Default Friggin ATT - 05-07-2008, 03:43 PM

So i was planning on taking vacation the 2nd week of july

Low an behold the leadership nuggets of ATT have decided there will be a vacation Blackout from June 15th - july 12th.

This will be the first time in years the entire family has been together in one spot and it is also the week of my Engagement party as the whole family will be here.

6 sisters brothers-in-law my brother and sister in law and all 13 or 14 or is it 20 nieces and nephews. yall get the picture

I understand they have sales goals and I am sure something "big" is about to launch but no real word on that. But as of now they block out almost 4 months of the year from vacations.

I don't care to vacation during the winter as I am sure most don't.

I may be sick that week!!!

My request was submitted long ago however it wasn't approved prior to the email therefore I dont get to take it as of now

If my entire immediate family wasn't gonna be here I wouldn't be so pissed

FAMILY first In my BOOK

that really sucks, seems like there should be exceptions.

its rumored to be iphone launch time again, but i still think they should make exceptions for their "best" people, i'm sure you would be on that list.

Aww, sad! Your blackout days include my birthday!! Haha!

They're doing blackouts at my work as well, so I feel your pain! I admit, it is quite odd how you can predict those illnesses these days!
I thought of telling my bosses that my dog is going to die on that day (I can't remember why I was making this excuse now) But I figured that's a stretch

and @ DacyJ - Yes. That would be karma being mean, I'm pretty sure

I don't care where you are employed but there is always exceptions and your family vacation sounds like it should be one of those exceptions. It sounds like you planned it WAY in advance too so there shouldn't be any problem.
I do hope you get to go and it works out.

What you do with and for your family will always be more important than what you do at work. Family always comes first.

EZ,
Feel for you. Things will work out.

Two years ago I worked Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day with most of the days in between also on company property. Actually it went from the end of February through September. Two engineers left and I got their projects along with still doing mine. The joy of being an exempt employee.

Always less than expected.
And now unimproved for 2008.

Ez - maybe t could be somrting serious like a broken ankle or slip and hurt your back. I heard they have to put people on some big drugs to take the pain away. There's no way you could work for at least a week. Then when you come back you have the proof in a cast to show it

Angry Bummer! BIG time - 05-09-2008, 09:42 PM

EZ, that is sure a stinker, cos like the others say, your family should be very important, even if you can't do anything with your phone during that time.

But, i have to ask, how do you know that there will be a 'blackout' during the time you mentioned there?
