Mine is more of a neat thing to have than a work requirement. But the short time I went without the data plan kind of stunk so I went back to it.

The 'net access is what does it for me.

Fortunately, I'm still at the point where I can still sign myself off IM and stuff during dinner and other events when any cell phone should shut up. Not only that, but I am still typing using proper grammar! =D

I use my autotext a lot to make sure what other people see is proper grammer. I dont like using 'u' ; 'r' or other abbreviated words. I do type 'u' or 'r' on my keyboard but will come out the proper word thanks to autotext

BTW, I couldnt live without it....dunno why people think up these sick ideas?

I'll put it this way, it's actually in my will that my BB's go in my casket with me when I die. And no I'm not kidding either, who says you can't take it with you? ;)

My wife has a small list of things that are to be in my casket around me and needless to say, my Blackberry will be on my side of the jeans I'll be wearing as well as my skoal chew as those are 2 things I never go anywhere without.

Then again, it'll be nice to be on an island someplace without feeling inclined to check it every now and then.

Hey, have you heard about Project Crackberry?

It's a reseach piece conducted by the London School of Economics to study the impact of push-mail technology on productivity and work-life balance. There's been so much gripe about BB's affecting work-life balance and so little data to show. It'll be interesting to see what comes out of it.

Participate now in a 5 minute online survey and make your stand! http://www.psych.lse.ac.uk/surveys/crackberry/

I was alive before BB and I'll be alive when BB is dust in the wind.
Carry on.

Being connected to the web and to your contacts 24/7 is what life has become for developed nations. sure you could go back to calling people from landlines and not having the internet at your fingertips 24 hrs a day, but who in their right mind would be ok with that? It is not ok for me to not have my blackberry with me ALL the time. And when it comes to smart phones or cell phones in general, not since my Nokia days back in the millenium yrs have I ever felt so loyal to one particular brand of cell phone.

It would be tough for a while, but I'm sure I would get used to being without it.

In the literal sense, yes, figuratively, I wouldn't want to have to find a replacement
