Default Finally got my Storm - 12-22-2008, 07:00 PM

I finally got my Storm today, i was worried a bit because of all that I have read throughout the forums and I am glad that I decided to get it. This is probably the most stellar RIM device i have ever had. This really blows the iphone to poo, I mean WOW! I have had it for about 3 hours and I was worried on how i would like the keyboard but i love it. I have been an emailing/texting fool. Thank you for those that kept saying it's a great device and giving tips and advice.

Correct, The Storm is way too sub-par even for a geek like me... And the wife hated hers...

Have you ever owned the iphone, or are you just trying to fit in with the anti iphone crowd.

i've had the storm for a couple of weeks now, and have been thoroughly impressed with mine. as a phone technician for sprint/nextel, i had exposure to many makes of the blackberry and the storm is all the things blackberry does well, with extra new coolness thrown in. i was worried whether i'd really take to the click screen, but i'm in love with it.
nothing wrong with the iphone; i would likely use one if verizon supported it, but so far so great with the storm. lack of applications is probably the only legitimate downside versus the iphone; other issues seem more user-preference related.

I tested one out last week when I was at the mall, rim had set up a phone tent and had a few storms out. I gotta say I was not impressed, I thought I would like the click touch screen but it was terrible for me, you cant see what button you hit when you type and it just didnt seem that responsive. I have a g1 and I like that much better as far as typing and menu simplicity. But I would even take my old 8800 over the storm if I must be honest, the storm just seemed to lag a lot and as far as touch screen typing, I prefer the iphone(and I hate the iphone).

People that say they hate the storm after playing with it at a store cant be taken to seriously. When i was in the verizon store i typed and played with one and it was dead slow. People have been using those devices for days/weeks/month(s) and they start to lag and get beat up. I have a storm now and i dont have any problems with screen lag or typing.

I had an ipod touch and typing on that was a pain. you get used to the click screen and as far as seeing what button you push, you get used to pushing the right button after a while much like typing on a computer keyboard.

I love my storm. I am trying to convince all my family to get one b/c they have such a bright future in the smart phone/touch screen area.

Agreed. In addition, the OS has been updated. The mall is not a good lithmus test

I had an iPhone with Soƒtbank when I lived in Japan (I have recently returned back to the US).

Different strokes for different folks I guess. I don't buy your theory that the phone was lagging simply because other people tried it out. I think it just matches what many people have been saying about it. But if it works to you alls liking then I'm happy for you. I'm just saying that it didn't pass my litmus test.
