Unhappy Disappointed (Somewhat) - 04-12-2009, 10:16 AM

Here I was, already to make the jump to not only Verizon, but to the Storm as well. I had done my soul searching, and decided to make the switch (I'm not prone to making snap decisions).
So, I'm at Best Buy, sitting down with the rep, filling out all the necessary paperwork; credit card in hand, ready to go home with a Storm. Right when she was about to enter my credit card info, I just asked if the 3G was really that much better than edge. She stopped typing and told me that our area doesn't carry 3G, that no carrier has 3G here (S.W. Lower Michigan).

I don't know how I missed that basic information in my research. I must have gotten hypnotized by the commercials I guess. Needless to say, my mouth is still dragging. Oh well. Me & my trusty Pearl will have to go another mile or two I guess.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go shoot myself in the other foot.

Peace,

Kamau

Where are you in SW MI? According the coverage map, VZW has 3G coverage in SW MI.

I can believe your disappointment, such things are never nice to hear especially when you're just about to buy something.

However, here is Verizon's coverage map:

That is not the current coverage map.

This is the current map of SW MI. The blue area is 3G/3.5G coverage.

I was told that they didn't have coverage, and that no one did. Something is not right, or someone needs to be retrained in their job.

Yes, and the blue area in the picture above is showing EVDO (3G) and EVDO Rev. A (3.5G) coverage only.

More than likely, the person didn't know what they were talking about. This is a common problem with mobile phone salespeople.

Check the map I posted. Are you in the blue area? If so, you have 3G coverage from VZW.
