Default Apostrophe - 04-17-2009, 07:14 PM

Today's lesson is on how to type an apostrophe.

This is an apostrophe: '

This is NOT an apostrophe: `

On a standard US keyboard, the apostrophe is found on the same key as the quote mark. Please learn it's location.

Thank you for your attention to dc/dc's typing lesson of the day.

I thought Apostrophe was teamed up with Fitch to sell trendy, over-priced clothing to teenagers. I have a lot to learn.

And today's spelling lesson is on the difference between 'its' and 'it's,' the latter meaning 'it is'. If you're going to teach, at least know how to spell

What about those who interchangeably use "your" and "you're". That pisses me off royally.

Down here, I've been drinking Firefly Sweet Tea vodka.

When outside of foreign countries like SC, I prefer Rain, Cirôc, Hangar One, Effen, or Level.

Well hell - while ya'll are at it and (some of you) are drinking..can you help me with "advice" and "advise"?

I always get dyslexic as hell on those two and can never figure out which one to use.

Sober and not-so sober advise(?) accepted.

Advice is a noun.

Example: I am seeking advice because you're more experienced with BlackBerry devices.

Advise is a verb.

Example: I would advise you to do a battery pull.

I hope that helps.

In some cases, it's simply a difference of American English versus Queen's (i.e., license/licence, defense/defence).
