I thought "Retired" was a separate label than "Moderator". Usually when someone has "Moderator" as a standalone label in his description, he is a person of import. This is the first time I've seen it used in this context.

2) I think of "Rant" as a digression of no consequence, posted to make the poster feel better. That was not what i had in mind when I posted, and having it labeled that way certainly didn't feel supportive. Perhaps I again misunderstood how things work here, they do seem to a bit different. 8-}

Looks like you learned something new.

Now, let's see if the OS update solved the problem, or not.

Jeff, since I made the comment you took offense to, and don't seem to understand the theory behind what is a "rant" and what is not, since your initial post doesn't post a single query, but only your personal story of your personal experience, your thread was moved to the most appropriate section of this forum. A place for everything, and everything in its place. Nice and tidy.

But honestly, people are willing to help you with any issues you have. A combative attitude on all that is offered to you, won't help. You can see it what its already done for those "retired" people in this thread.

Let us know how the upgrade goes.

I don't mean to be combative, but I have no sympathy or understanding for an organization like RIM that handles a customer as poorly as I've been handled. Maybe the upgrade will work, we shall see, but for RIM to jump me through hoops for 2 months and then blow me off should be something you all find reprehensible.
thanks

We are only hearing your side of the story, and for the most part, you seem to be an anomaly.

Ya, we're not RIM.

If you want help, please state so.

Otherwise it's apparent now you came to state your displeasure, and you have don't that.

Wirelessly posted (wap! woop woop!)

If Nemo the hockey lived in an anomaly, and an anomaly is a type of pasta... Are we talking about pasta with fish? (Like tuna pasta, only hockey flavour instead of tuna).

If so, I don't like fish. Can I have parma ham with my portion of anomaly?

you are complaining about RIM as a company on how bad they treat their customers... atleast they TRIED to resolve it for 2 months. Most companies would have given up on that long ago. If anything I used to work for Verizon DSL tech support and my god does Verizon have some issues with customer service. Maybe RIM wanted to try and resolve it with your current device software because your device was the only one that has had this issue... then after 2 months(im sure the notes are fairly long at that point) forgot about the fact that you havent tried the newest version installed yet. Still waiting on to see if this will infact resolve the issue....

I thought I had to use what Verizon made available?
there's no harm in taking it direct from RIM?

All OS's come from RIM. There's no harm whatsoever.

rim does not do support directly, it would have to be issued off the carrier.

now you are complain over verizon, and that is one company that actually would escalate the call to rim after teir 2 support.

but before it hit teir 2, but the odd part is verizon is very quick to jump the gun on an exchange before a fix, period, they would offer an exchange first.

what i see is from this you're very combative and dont really want a fix, more just you want complain and complain more.
to speak to rim directly you would have to pay. off the carrier xfer you dont, most carriers dont xfer to rim but swap the device out, if it is or is not a refurb thats debatable through the phone.

if you want help ask for it, but being combative will not help you any way.

We had a similar issue at work with a C-level officer. In Dec 2007 we did two exchanges of the 8300c handheld and one to a 8310c (so three) plus new SIM cards with each phone. The symptoms still persisted. We reverted the user back to a 8700c and older SIM and the problems went away. The problem seemed to be location specific for him (mostly near his residence). We finally got AT&T to admit it was a network problem then it was fixed within a week.

What a pain, but that's life in I.T.!! Relax, it could be worse. you could of had a T.R.E.O. (OMGWTFBBQROTFLMAO!!).

How did the OS upgrade go for you? Are you still experiencing issues?

he has? Where? not in this thread... Anyway, ,most of the posts were during the day yesterday, when i said I would upgrade in the EVENING. So now it's the next MORNING, and someone has asked. Fair question.

ANSWER: I downloaded it last night, but got concerned when I read about people whose blackberrys worked better -before- the upgrade, so I decided to wait until I have enough time to switch back if there are issues. I will get there sometime this week.

see bold sections, they may not have been a direct question but you have been asked.

Also there are always a select few that are going to have trouble no matter what. I have always ran the latest and greatest as they come out and I follow the directions and I have only rolled one OS back in my 6 years of playing with OS downloads.

OK, a few things to say regarding this thread.

jeffw_00, I am sorry you have had such a tough time with your BB and technical support with carrier and RIM. Many users here are very willing to help you resolve the issue, there is not much we can until the device OS has been upgraded. Please do let us know when you have had an opportunity to do this.

A general reminder for all - be civil to other BBF users. Preferably nice, but at the very minimum, civil. If you cannot think of anything constructive to say, please do not just post insults, those types of post are not welcome here.

although in one respect I'm loathe to post here anymore. I will point out that even after I do the upgrade, it will take weeks to see if it fixed a problem that can go several days without occurring. So all I will be able to report after the upgrade is that (god willing) nothing else is broken.

Oh - and FWIW - I mentioned that i sent an Email to Verizon Support. They called me today, and told me that if I did a *228 that would fix it (sigh).

I can see where you're coming from. One way or another, this thread skewered off into a not altogether pleasant vibe.
I hope that it does not put you off BBF though. We are pretty good at most BB stuff and getting fixes without the help of RIM, lol

jeff, you should relax. Reading this as a third party, I think this is typical forum misunderstanding that escalated out of control. Let it go, stop trying to prove that your thread should have been in one section or another, and smile. It's just a web forum. NJBB, you could stand to be less grumpy, but your avatar provides ample warning, so it's all good.

Go ahead, update the software and stop not doing it or talking about how you will do it. For me, upgrades often fixed problems immediately. Just do it. You're wasting your own time and effort. 9 times out of 10, that's all it takes.
