Default From Verizon BB to iPhone? - 05-12-2009, 04:44 PM

Hi All,

Looking for some assistance…currently use a Verizon BB8830 world edition and my plan with Verizon is up next month. My job just gave me the Sprint BB8350i Curve so I don’t need to pay Verizon for the Enterprise Service anymore…that being said I’m not sure if I want the new Verizon BB Tour either. Although I’ve never had a problem with VZ service, they seem to be slow on phone hardware and software upgrades.

I wanted to get some opinions on the ATT service via the iPhone 3G in NYC/Long Island. Perhaps when it’s time for me to switch carriers, the 3G iPhone will be discounted due to the new models being shortly released.

Sorry for the babble, any help is appreciated.

Wait for the new iPhone if you like to send picture messages. The current one can't do MMS :(

Thanks, I think they are addressing the picture messaging with the software update that was just released (it may be a beta version).

I guess more of my concern is the 3G service in NY with the iPhone.

if you want an ipod with a semi working phone get a iphone, else imo i'd wait for lte roll out.
and get something on a 4g basis.
the iphone 3g signal/voice quality is sub par to even a free phone. signal reception is sub par of other phones 3g or switched to edge, where even an edge phone work, the iphone dont. i see it as a downgrade more then an upgrade in signal / call quality.

You won't get a objective opinion of the iphone here. Too many BB fan boys, most who have never held an iphone, more or less know anything about them aside from what they have read. I have the first gen iphone, so I can't speak to the 3G model. But several of my co workers do and have no problems with their iphone 3G. I live in central NJ.

-->BB 7130e-->Palm 700P-->BB 8830-->iphone-->BB 8310-->BB 9000-->iphone 3GS

first off i'm an apple hater, due to the fact most of the apple fan boys believe they are above everyone else which they are not. claiming a sub par product is better then others is laughable.

considering i live in nyc, have an iphone 3g collecting dust on my shelf, which due to reception issues, dead spots, and the worst voice quality ever, no i have not moved, yet where the 8310 got reception the iphone 3g on 3g or edge cant get a carrier signal, it says something, the same reason my fuze works in the same spots the iphone has no signal means something.

also its not the iphone due to the fact i have exchanged the phone 10 time from apple for a new phone not a refub. it has to be the phone not the network.

if it was like any other phone, it would work where the fuze, curve worked. since it does not and my house does not relocate, its the phone.

Understand that this is not the best place to find an objective opinion about the iPhone. I myself have poked fun at the device since its release.

Going on two years with my 8830WE, itching for a new phone, not sure how much longer I can last. The launch of App World is helping me cope for the time being. Is it possible that I can make it to the Storm 2 release? If it's even true. The Tour is looking like the possible winner. We will see, not sure if carrying around two Blackberries is what I'm looking to do.

Give the iphone a try, you can always return it is your not happy. The comments and opinions above should be expected and understood for what they are (trolls). nothing is perfect but its stupid for someone to tell you what you would enjoy the most. If you have a BB through work then why not try something different, iphone or otherwise.

fyi, your right about software update allowing mms on iphones. it has nothing to do with hardware as ginaloves mention.

oh but he also should know the iphone if he does not like it has a restock fee.

good advice also, but figure i just throw out the fine print, that if he does not wish to keep it he will pay a restock fee on the phone.
