NYC is notorious for dropped calls by all carriers, not just Verizon. It all depends on where you are and which building is between you and the cell tower. From what I hear, Chicago is another spot for lots of dropped calls and I would assume the same for San Fran, LA and many other major cities with lots of tall buildings.

Wirelessly posted (MY 8900)

I live basically in chicago and have no dropped call problem with att or tmo. Verizon Is more likly to have them in big cities because many businesses use verizon and their towers are too overwhelmed.

However, even is a suburb of chicago 90 miles, many of my friends have dropped calls

I never get dropped calls, you might want to switch carriers.

Never had any problem with Verizon myself either. If their service isn't working for you, definitely research one that will. It might be worth the switch.

VZW here in Chicago and Northern burbs = no issues for me. I do the *228 option 2 quite often. I figure that it cannot hurt.
I can't recall the last time I have had a dropped call. (Now.. 1XEV to 1xev... well... different story for a different thread!)

I rarely ever have a dropped call, but my friend with Sprint has dropped calls all the time.

You should have a good signal outside of the major downtown areas. Not as many tall buildings to block signals.

I've had Verizon since 2001 and in that time only a hand full of dropped calls, mostly in far out rural areas of TN.

I live in Knoxville and its very rare to experience a dropped calls here. AT&T, on the other hand, stinks. I live in the middle of toown and my friends on AT&T get 1 bar at my house where I get 5. It seems that in moutainous area GSM service absolutely stinks. You can have 4 bars in one spot, walk down the street and suddenly have none. It's like that all over East TN.

I can count on one hand how many of my friends / contacts have AT&T. Everyone else that lives in this area goes with Sprint or Verizon. In some cases Sprint does better than Verizon in the Smokies.

I rarely dropped a call when I was on AT&T.....mainly because in areas where Verizon will drop a call, with AT&T you would have no service,so fewer dropped calls.

Maybe it's phone and not the service. It can happen

AT&T BLOWS in Westchester. My calls drop constantly, and when I am not getting cut off, I have choppy service. There are still complete blank spots for coverage on some pretty well-traveled roads.

Booooooooooooooooooooooooooo AT&T.

Great if you were on a flat plain. Unfortunately trees and mountains cause the same service issues.

I live in San Francisco and Verizon's call quality is the best. They don't drop here. AT&T on the other hand is HORRIBLE... My iPhone 3GS logged 450 dropped calls in the short amount of time I had it. Thus why I left and went to a Tour

I live in NYC and have had no issues with dropped calls except for a small dead spot in NY Harbor when on the SI Ferry.
