Question Rant: 4.6 browser - 07-04-2009, 11:59 AM

Why did the "Style sheet" and "html" options disappear? I'm not for the flashy stuff, I'm for quick, easily viewable pages. Side-scrolling is a big no-no RIM, you guys should know this by now. So is zooming. Well, at least you didn't completely remove the shortcut key for the options menu but 'S'? I've always wondered where the goofy designations come from like 'F' for profile and 'U' for calculator - now I know firsthand but I think 'S' for options is pushing it. Also, the "Cursor" option needs to come back, there are a couple sites where I can't manage to get a link highlighted unless I turn it off and scroll down old-school style.

Nope, they use 'I' and 'O' for zoom in and zoom out on 4.6.

I'm trying my hardest RIM but this browser just plain sucks. Did you forget what word wrap is? As I type this it looks like a stock ticker running across a building. And what happened to the image resizing? This side scrolling crap needs to go. What could you guys have possibly been thinking when you "developed" this current version? Did someone fall asleep with their forehead mashing some keys and you thought the outcome was a good idea? You know what, forget the fact that 4.6 just downright sucks, make it so I can just use 4.2 or 4.5 on my 4.6 OS.
Thank you, have a nice day.

The browser has always been one of the BBs weaknesses. That and Mac support. Opera mini isn't bad, never tried Bolt.

I loved 4.2. Granted it didn't have a cursor but I never had a problem without it and everything worked great. Simple, easy to use and FAST. I would have an answer to a question before an iPhone user even had the google home page loaded. I don't possibly see how that is a weakness. RIM is trying too hard to make their browser flashy like all of the 3rd party apps but I think that's the biggest mistake they could make.

Yup, Bolt sucks, too. Why do people prefer to have a tunnel-vision view of a page?

What sucks about it? If you are going into Bolt with a negative attitude, chances are you won't like it either.

i dont think you gave Opera or Bolt enough time there... sounds to me like you installed it, opened it, loaded a page and said it sucks. Opera can be set up the exact way you want it. And it will load stupid fast!
