Also your friend using was inappropriately using the county sheriff's resources. He probably could be fired for that.

I believe it's fiction, but to illustrate the point with humor.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

The OP's indignation over the current owners reaction of his previous blackberry's PIN messaging them is similar. Most people don't even have a clue what a PIN message or number is, and would consider his actions an invasion of their privacy.

You had me going up to the point of finding the car in a WalMart parking lot.

Heh. I did think about the possiblitey that it was fiction. I'm glad to hear that did not really happen.

Anyway, I still had a spare key from when I owned it, so I got in and waited in the back seat until the current owner came out of the mall. Man what an @sshole he was!!! After he nearly had a heart attack and shot me with the pistol he kept under the front seat, I was able to explain to him who I was...but he still was pissed off. What is up with people these days?
Love it!

What exactly did you expect to happen? For them to invite you over for tea and cookies?
"wtf are you" and "why are you messaging me" sound pretty rational responses to unsolicited PIN messages.
