Angry RIM / Blackberry - A Sinking Ship

Please Login to Remove!

I am very sad to say that RIM / /Blackberry is a sinking ship. I absolutely love their products, but they aren't keeping up with the iPhone. It kind of reminds me of the Pacquiao vs. De la Hoya fight. De la Hoya would take several blows and then throw a latent punch.

The company I work at has about 500 Blackberry users and most people are ready to move to an iPhone. It doesn't matter how secure the Blackberry is, how much better it works with Outlook . Exchange, or how much easier it is to support in a corporate environment. It's all about THE COOLNESS FACTOR and MULTIMEDIA.

The only thing keeping me on a Blackberry is Blackberry Messenger / Pin to Pin messenger and $20USD a month international Blackberry service. Other than that, what other reason would I have to stick with a Blackberry?

I am a strong advocate for Blackberry in my company and have a well respected opinion, but it's a hard sell when RIM / Blackberry doesn't offer anything that can compete with the iPhone.

RIM / Blackberry, I am sending out and SOS! Wake up and wake up quick, becuase I guarantee you that Apple is working on something like Blackberry messenger / pin to pin messaging and that will blow you out of the water.

Do you think the CSO of a corporation really gives a rats a** what the users want? Security is much more important than some silly "coolness factor"

Really? Security doesn't matter? It's all about the coolness factor and multimedia? Hmm, interesting concept. The coolness factor and multimedia definitely make me more productive at work. They also make me feel better when I accidentally leave my wireless device in the back of a cab. Because the coolness factor and multimedia will prevent someone from picking it up and using it.

I am pretty sure that the coolness factor and multimedia play a very little role in making mobile enterprise decisions when compared to security.

Maybe in the consumer market, this would stand true, but your statement clearly states that this is the case for the corporate environment. I hate to disagree with you on this, actually, no I don't. You're simply wrong.

When it comes to corporate devices security will win hands down every time.

Literally yes, but I was referring to figuratively. LOL

This is like the 3rd or 4th post in recent weeks talking about how RIM is doomed.

I think the idiots are growing on trees or something.

I think my Blackberry is pretty cool

"It's all about the coolness factor and the multimedia"

That's got to be the most precious thing yet. I should put that in my signature

And your opinion is well respected in your company?
Do you work with a lot of mentally challenged individuals?

I normally don't feed trolls, but I'm making an exception in your case because you made me laugh and I was having a rough day.

Hopefully we all just missed a bit of sarcasm in your post and you're really not as ignorant as you came off to be a few hours ago.

RIM is not trying to keep up with anyone. They develop the platform with business users in mind. Consumers have discovered how useful BlackBerrys are for every day use too, so RIM threw in some multimedia features. Really though, these multimedia features are almost an afterthought. BlackBerrys are purpose-driven. If multimedia is your primary focus, BlackBerrys are not for you.

And there's plenty of room for all the major manufacturers to have a "killer" product. This hype about an "iPhone killer" is stupid. Nobody is going to kill the iPhone except Apple, and nobody needs to kill the iPhone.
