Default My Faves is the Stupidest service offered by tmobile - 10-01-2006, 01:11 PM

I was under the impression you needed a t-mobile phone that was "capable" of having my faves. I was wrong, you need a phone with the software when you purchase the phone. This is the stupidest service tmobile has ever offered. They make you purchase a brand new phone with the sofware even if you have a phone that is already carried with my faves. Makes me want to switch back to Cingular.

And the 8100 is on that list, and there are even FAQs on the T-Mobile 8100 web site regarding using this service.

Call back and speak to another rep.

I don't mind them supporting certain phones but they support certain phones that you purchase from oct 1. The bb pearl is supported but i would have to purchase a new bb pearl with the software already installed in order to me to use the service. Thats the dumb part.

Even with all that, I still think Caller Tunes is a dumber service.

Not true.

Call TMO and have them add MyFaves to your account....

But wait until 10/2/06 to call.

Not true. I spoke to a rep today(unrelated problem) and we discussed the myfaves and it will be available tomorrow as long as your phone is compatible. No need to buy a new phone. They are still unsure about when the .51 OS update will be available though.

Sorry for the flame, but just because you aren't getting what you want from T-mobile, you don't have to belittle the CSR.

Not sure how you did this.. I spoke to 3 reps and I was told the plans aren't even in the system until 10/2. If you added the plan online it will not take effect today.

I can't even add the plan online because I have a family plan. Also, according to the MyFaves FAQ blackberrys aren't compatible with Myfave

Quote:
Can Blackberry®, Sidekick®, or handheld users subscribe to myFaves?

No. At this time, these devices are not supported by the myFaves service. This may become available in the future.
Even though when I click on phone support it states that the pearl is a Myfaves phone.

the Pearl is compatible, and I've seen it in person. The TMO rep who sold me my phone showed it to me last week.

If you look at the T-Mo website, it clearly identifies the Pearl as being a myFaves compatible phone...

Anyone who thinks that MyFaves will NOT work on the hottest new phone on the market, that just came out three weeks before MyFaves is offered, is not thinking clearly.

Why on earth would T-Mobile, who got the exclusive rights to distribute the Pearl, and RIM, not make the Pearl compatible with MyFaves?

You must be getting a T-Mo rep who is new or does not understand what is going on with the Pearl.

And does anyone seriously think that T-Mo would say "Ha ha, that Pearl you bought three weeks ago, that just came out, is NOT compatible with MyFaves, you have to buy a new Pearl!"

Come on people, use common sense.

Well, Im trying to signup online for the MyFavs BB Mail and Minutes 1000, but its telling me the plan and services area of the website is having maintenance right now.

Seems like a good deal to me. Unlimited data and text messages, 1000 anytime minutes plus the myfavs, but no weekend or night minutes anymore. Heck, aside from my top5 I doubt I would be using 1000 minutes in a month for everyone else anyways. So, for an extra $5 or so a month I get myfavs unlimited text instead of a 1000 and 1000 minutes instead of 600 plus nights/weekends. Not too bad.

My wifes one year old razor is too old for MyFaves. They're locking alot of people out of the service if one year old Razors aren't compatible.

1 cellphone year= 100 people years?

Just an estimate. Fell free to give your own.

I didn't have to buy a new phone. I got the Blackberry Pearl the day it was released and got the software update today, you just have to change your plan to myfavs. I did it online and received the automatic update to my phone w/in 5 minutes.. I like My faves because it will save me about $80.00 a month!!!!!

I got the info for my faves on Sept. 10th 2 days before my fav's was released (I'm an indirect dealer in so cal) and if your phone doesn't support my fav's update ure software by going to tmo dot com / bb upgrade I've done it for three customers already and worse case use javaloader to wipe the phone completely after you have sucsessfully downloaded the update handheld software. And the my fav's feature is activated via txt messge once the rate plan is switched over. So from my experince it should work on the pearl and any other phone that wears the my fav's symbol which if you didn't notice is on your pearl box that u purchased on sept. 12th just putting that out there....

Default myFaves not available for family plan unless all phones are compatible - 10-04-2006, 09:05 AM

The title says it all. Although I have the Pearl and wanted to upgrade my plan to add myFaves, Tmobile won't do it unless all 4 phones on my account are "myFaves compatible". I'm not going to go out and buy 3 new phones to go with my Pearl. Doesn't make sense to me at all. So what if I'm the only person on my family plan who would use the myFaves service (via my Pearl)?

I am going to call and double check on the MyFave thing. I want it, because I have a primary cell phone anyway. So I would get the low minutes in case. But I am going to get my phone through Amazon, hecka lotta cheaper. But if the only way I can get it is through buying one with it on there, I am going to have to rethink it all.

I don't see why they wouldn't let you add it on a device that is compatible later on. I think that messes up their point. After a while, the amount of people who are willing to buy a new device, and those who are willing to get a myFave plan on their old one will be opposite. More people are going to want to add it to their plan.

I just got the Blackberry Pearl with MyFaves two days ago. It works great, however, if you receive an SMS Text message from one of your MyFaves contacts, the from address will display as the contact's phone number and NOT their name. Has anyone else seen this problem?

I thought the same thing on the myfave thing, but I have it and Im using it with my old non myfave phones, the v3 razr is one, even a rep told me you didnt need the compatible phone as it was just the software and bubbles is the way she describe it, she approved mine and Ive been using it with no probs, you just have to update the numbers online or by phone to customer service. Now they will say depending on the rep, you have to have the compatible phone, I delt with that till I called and came across another rep who spoke with her supervisor and approved mine.

Tried it, cancelled it. Myfavs only lets you pick 5 and you loose your free tmo to tmo.. I have about 20 people I call on tmo so picking 5 is not an option.

I used it for 15 days and was up to 1200 min used on my 2000 min plan. They changed me back, was nice enough to back date to the start of billing cycle and my used min went down to 490.

You dont lose the mobile to mobile, myfaves is kinda crazy on the pricing, I had to get the $10 more plan, but I kept my mobile to mobile, and all. Its still not bad as they have excellent quality and from my experience excellent customer serivce, only one issue with a rep, but they made up for the rudeness I got 300 bonus mins.

My Faves? what a waste. I've spent the last 6 years trying to convince everyone I know to get Tmo so I can call them free on tmo to tmo minutes. The others become email buddies. Most of my friends who dont have tmo either have a BB on another carrier or a treo or some device that gets email. If not I have unlimited sms messages and I still have my minutes for any who are left. My Faves is a joke to me.
