Default God Bless Asurian! - 06-22-2007, 03:45 PM

As a few of you may know, a lowlife scum-sucking leach stole my Pearl while I was at a club in SF last weekend. So I went thru the procedure of filing the police report (over the phone - super easy!) then contacted Asurian to get my replacement BB. The process was was quick and painless. And the best part of all, I got it the next day! All is right with the world again and I no longer feel like I'm missing my right arm.
So to those of you who may be lurking on this site, trying to decide on which BB to get, GET INSURANCE FOR YOUR DEVICE. PROTECT YOUR INVESTMENT. You may think that you don't need it because you're careful and responsible. You are wrong. There are preditors waiting in the wings to strike out and take your baby away from you!

I agree. I had to replace my 8700g recently and the process with Asurion is very easy. I guess this post should go in the Rants and Raves section.

I have to call and change my plan because they did the free mobile to mobile instead of the insurance I think. I have no need for the free mobile to mobile minutes either lol. However, I was kinda disappointed with tmobiles deductible price. 100 vs verizon's 50 dollar one.

You should get insurance on ANY phone you buy. Even the cheap, crappy candy bar Nokias are like $200 or more to replace flat out. It boggles my mind the people that get phones worth double and triple the price, yet don't get insurance...

My advice - stay out of clubs in SF.

lol, ditto that.

rposieden -- I would never buy insurance for a phone. All insurance is, anyway, is pre-paying your problems, and allowing the insurer to make a few dollars along the way. For some people, insurance might be an (expensive option), but $200-300 for a new phone makes more sense for me than paying for it up front when I may never need it.

Insurance may be for some people [see my posts discussing costs of premiums, depreciation and cost to replace the phone].

You should clarify that Asurion is available only through Verizon [at least I think it is]. Also, the spelling is NOT Asurian.

Asurion has its detractors and believers just like other carriers. People need to research to make sure the carrier is on the up and up.

Asurian - Cell Phone Insurance

Verizon and Asurion insurance scam.

Ya... unless there's something I'm not aware of, folks with att are out of luck when it comes to insurance on their BB's. Too bad cuz I wouldn't mind insuring mine.

So how would one on a carrier such as At&t - who don't offer insurance - get insured?

Is it even possible?
