Default I'm tired - 06-28-2007, 10:27 PM

I'm sorry but I have to say this.

Why should it take so much to watch a movie or handle any type of media on this quality piece of technology that I have purchased? BlackBerry is not a fledgling company. How hard is it to add Windows Media on it? Ok, I know it was not originally designed to be a personal use device, but instead a business device. Times have changed and BlackBerry should know this by now.

We shouldn’t have to do a handstand and a back flip and be a computer science major to play media on it.
Plus, I’m tired of getting emails with attachments I can’t open .

And don’t tell me about the extra software that I have to buy just to make the 8800 act like an all round personal device. For the price of the phone, it should have come this way.

Don't get me wrong, the phone has a lot of features I like. I love the email, battery life and security it has, but the rest is starting to get on my nerves.

And no, I don’t want an Iphone.

This probably has more to do with the "business" side than the "technical" side. RIM is really a competitor of Windows Mobile, so getting Media Player onboard would likely be a protracted negotiation, with both sides giving up more than the really want to.

It would be like Chevy building a car with a Ford engine in it. As cool as that might be to a lot of consumers, it would take an unprecedented level of cooperation between two rivals.

Well stated ndub

We also have to keep in mind that only since the Pearl has multimedia capabilites even an option. RIM is trying to add the things that consumers demand while maintaining the high level of security and reliability.

perhaps it is just me. I might be the only one that think this way.

One of the reasons I love my bb so much is because it doesnt come in an almighty package. It makes me search around and play around to add and experience new stuffs to it, replacing program that doesnt fit my needs with new and improved programs that I enjoy having.

I am a person that would easily get bored of something new. If I have an almighty phone that doesnt make me feel excited with new experiment, it would only be in my possession for the longest - 3 months. And I had my pearl for 8 months now!

I'm sure ur right, but how would, say, letting 3rd party app writers use the volume controls hurt security? ie

Thx
