Whats up with the verizon online chat reps. -

Ok, I was on the VerizonWireless webite checking how many minutes I have used for the month and seeing if I could enable the $15/Month tethering for my laptop when all of the sudden in the center of the webpage a box comes up and asks if I would like to chat to a live representatice. Here is a copy/past of the convo.

You: when I went into the verizon wireless store
Destin : I'd be happy to help you with that.
You: the rep told me that the blackberry 8830 had a fully featured GPS
You: I see nothing about it on the website
Pause for about 3 Minutes
Destin : Yes this phone will be able to be used in where in the world using GPS.
You: what?
You: I am in florida
You: the rep said I could use blackberry maps
You: and google maps
Pause for about 10 Minutes
Destin : Unfortunately none of our PDA Blackberry devices will have the Vz Navigator.
Destin : You can also go to map quest .
You: wait first you said the phone has GPS then you said no PDA blackberries have VZ Navigator
You: which is it

Destin : When you first said GPS i thought you were referring to taking the phone outside the united states.
You: so it dosnt have GPS
You: ?
Destin : That is correct.
You: well then how to I return the phone?
You: I got it because I was told it had gps

Destin : May i ask did you purchase online or the local store?
You: local store

You: How would I Identify him in the message other than Destin.
You: they will not know who I am talking about.

Ben: I research the issue with the blackberry, their is no GPS available with this product.
You: I have contacted RIM, the company that makes the device
You: they say it has GPS that can even work stand alone, but Verizon disables it
You: all other Carriers that offer the same phone have the GPS enabled

Ben: I am sorry, I just look on another site an it is gps enabled.
Ben: Did you need any help with other information concerning your blackberry or any of our other products?
You: no

Ben: Our gps system is for 911 purposes only, and it is not used for navagation.
You: why?
You: the same phone can be used for GPS navigation with other Carriers

You: The phone gives me the option to change it to 911 only or On demand. Taking it off of 911 only does nothing.
You: im sorry its not On Demand it says "Location On"
Pause for about 3 Minutes
Ben: I do apologize, Verizon has only GPS for emergencies only. You can either go back to store you purchased the product or send an email to corperate to voice your displeasure.
You: Ill be doin both
You: thanks for nothing
Ben: If you have had the product for less than 30 days, you can return it for another porduct.
