With all the talk and speculation about new Blackberry models, I thought I would give my 2 cents worth.
My perfect berry would have 3G, Wi-Fi, and since the blackberry is about the size of my laptop's hard drive, a usb plug for a 150 Gigs of memory would be nice. Home theater to show dvd's would also be available, as well as a sound system to play mp3s. For a camera, something equivalant to a D-50 Nikon would be fantastic!
And if it is'nt asking too much a price point around $ 200.00.
So if a RIM engineer should read this and build me a protype, I'll fly to Canada to pick it up.

P.S If I left anything out feel free to add to the thread.

Not being a techie, and trying to stay within current technology limitations, I would be happy with the following moderate improvements to my Pearl>

Standard 3.5mm headphone jack
AD4P-AD4P-AD4P-AD4P-AD4P-AD4P-AD4P-AD4P-AD4P-AD4P-AD4P-AD4P-AD4P-AD4P-AD4P-AD4P-
Current Pearl form factor that is 20% thinner and 40% lighter
10GB in internal memory (I know, I know, not available with current technology, but seems like it should be)

I'm a simple man with simple needs. Make these small improvements and I'm a fan for life.

I'm gathering my materials for the prototype. Since I hav'nt received a email or call from a RIM engineer, I thought maybe I should help speed up the process by building a prototype.
Let's see, I have my epoxy glue, duct tape,hummm, oh yea my acetyline torch.
Does any one know if I should remove the battery before using the acetyline torch?
If all goes well, I should be able to post some pics soon.

So far no calls or emails from the engineers at RIM. I guess if you want something done, its best to start the ball rolling yourself.
The first step is to gather the necessary tools and materials.
Elmers glue, epoxy glue, duct tape,brass hinges,soldering iron, screw driver,pliers,torque wrench,metric sockets, pipe wrench, electric drill, ohm meter,bumper jack, heavy duty drugs,cherry picker, acetline torch....* does anyone know if you need to remove the battery before using the acetline torch?
Hmmm... That's about it, opps almost forgot the most important item barbed wire.
I should have some photos available in a few days to send to RIM's research and development team. So stay tuned.....

Put there useful software!!! Like doc, xls, pdf, ppt viewers!
Try to make the BBerry also just stand alone phone and not internet toy with all dependencies from data plan! Try to develop useful software for your phone! More software (specially free) - more useful is the phone!

1. The viewers (for instance beamberry) open the attachments on some servers and not on the phone. So if you do not have GPRS or EDGE then must forget about viewing those files. If there is standalone viewer could please suggest where can I get it?

But another nasty thing... without data plan no e-mails, no web no mms, nothing - except for calls and sms...

It seems that the guys from RIM think that the world is only USA or the most clever guys - USA plus UK....

Even a 7 year old phone have Internet settings to set up. And with this phone I have to find data plans, taking into account that not all carriers support BBerries.

Disappointed very much!

Sounds like yet another noob who failed to do his homework.

In short the BB relies on the BB data plan for access to RIM's infrastructure for encrypted, secure communication. Maybe you should get a SK.

I have only one qualification for a "perfect" Blackberry: That it be hooked to my belt. Whichever model meets that criteria is my "perfect" device.

I realize that the security is necessary for BES. But the BIS could be more open.
And if the RIM think that the Blackberry is a business phone, then they should taking into account that businessman is traveling and wants to be online everywhere.

You seem to have your wishes confused with reality. Because you think BIS could be less secure, does not make it so. I prefer BIS and hope it remains secure.
