Default RIM You Stink At Documentation! - 08-23-2007, 05:12 PM

Ok, well not with everything (some is actually quite good) ... but with the stuff that pisses me off you STINK!

Case and point:

"Deploy Applications" function in 4.1 SP4

Holy Jesus, this seems like an AWESOME new function! You mean I don't need to wait the up to the default 4 hour polling interval to push out apps to a HH ... or I don't need to make the reg change AppProvisioningPollInterval?!?!?!?!?!

Geez, I don't know ... BECAUSE THERE IS NO STINKIN' DOCUMENTATION ON THIS ANYWHERE.

Tell us about these things; PLEASE!

Exactly why I come to this site for answers before I read any RIM documents.... they are a last resort for me.

BUT COME ON, The best thing about it is when you flat out lie to someone and say "No there is no other way to do this", and then you have to double back to actually say "Oh, wait, you can do this" ...

Yeah, that'd be great if it was my brother or my wife I was talking to; but stop making me lie to customers RIM ... COME ON ... HELP ME HELP YOU!!!

HELP ME .... HELP YOU!!!

I'm finished, I'm f******. Twenty four hours ago, man, I was hot! Now... I'm a cautionary tale. You see this jacket I'm wearing, you like it? Because I don't really need it. Because I'm cloaked in failure! I lost the number one draft picked the night before the draft! Why? Let's recap: Because a hockey player's kid made me feel like a superficial jerk. I ate two slices of bad pizza, went to bed and grew a conscience!

Remember the Programmer's Creed:

What documentation? If it was hard to program, it should be hard to understand and harder to modify!

A perfect example of RIM's documentation being off.

Spent all morning trying to import the SMS logs into another program.
I'm working off KB11552, which specifies 11 fields in the log file.

Finally decided to look at the source and there are 12 fields.
"Overall Message Status" does not appear on their documentation.
Once I added that field, the import works.

I logged a call into RIM requesting they update their documentation...We'll see
