Default Email Reconc. - 06-10-2005, 08:07 AM

I'm sure this question has been posted before but here goes.

I'm setting up a blackberry using the cingular.com/blackberry webmail. We do have an exchange 2003 server here but this is the route I was instructed to go.
I know nothing about BES but do know that we do not have it installed.
I have the PIM successfully snycning outlooks calenders, contacts and tasks.
I have a user account on the blackberry webmail and my mail is being forwarded from my company mailbox. I can receive and send mail fine. However I cannot reconcile. I have the 'options' for messages set to rec on mailbox and handheld on faults the mailbox wins. However it is not reconciling. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, would it be more beneficial for me to set it up through our email server? Would we still be able to check mail remotely out of the building? Like I said, we were just informed to go this way in the beginning but can change. Also, is BES a requirement for email rec? Thanks in advance.

Email reconciliation doesn't work with Webclient. You have to have a BES as you have mentioned. Not sure what you mean "set it up throuh our mail server". Either you have a BES behind your firewall or you use BWC, those are your choices.

That's what I feared. About 'setup thru the mail server' I mean when I installed the blackberry desktop software. There were two options. one to setup email through a webclient like cingular. The other was if I had an exchange email server. I went through the webclient way. I was wondering if I could get reconc. to work if I had gone the exchange server way but I suppose that would mean installing the BES. Thanks for your help.
