Default Non port 80 HTTP access

Please Login to Remove!

Trying to hit a website that listens on a port other than 80 and I get a 503 error on the 7520 (stock). Interestingly the server never sees a packet (it's my server). Is this a restriction of the (nextel) service, or the bb itself? I'm guessing web access is proxied but since it's plain http I would expect the request to succeed..

It is a restriction of the Blackberry. Check this knowledge base article from RIM.

Thanks for the info. That is one seriously retarded restriction that is gonna piss the hell out of my boss who just ordered a bunch of these for the office.. our site uses non-port 80 http quite extensively.

Any RIMmers listening who might be able to explain the reason for this restriction?
