Default need help understanding how to reconsile email - 10-26-2007, 11:59 AM

Hey All,

pretty new to Blackberry, having come from a Q. I'm using BIS with a 8310 on at&t.

My question is: Is it possible to two way sync your emails with Desktop manager? I know you can't do it ota.

My button for reconcile messages is grayed out as is the configure reconciliation button.

It sure would be nice to at least be able to delete from the phone when it's plugged in.

Any ideas?

Jeff

The reconcile now option only applies to a BES.

You can't sync mail through USB. BB doesn't sync mail. Mail gets pushed to the device.

If you used BES, you would have OTA reconciliation.

If you used Desktop Redirector you could do a wired reconciliation. (though Desktop Redirector has many other drawbacks).

Wired reconciliation is not possible when using BIS.

It depends on what type of email account you have setup on the BIS. Yahoo, Gmail and OWA connected to an exchange server will reconcile your email messages in both directions. As will most IMAP email accounts as well.

You are starting with the assumption that you can not sync your messages OTA, but this is somewhat false. You can "reconcile" your message, it just depends on what type of email account you have.

POP accounts are not able to reconcile however.

bitablespore, you are correct. I was mistaken as i was thinking of the BWC days.

Just last week I dealt with issues related to email rec on BIS and got thinking about my post here.

Thanks!

I guess this means that when I "reply" from my BIS BB8700c (AT&T), then the "Sent" email...the reply in this case will never appear in my MSOutlook "Sent" file (in a POP account). Would it appear there if I synched through BB Desktop Manager?
