Welcome to the forums. It seems syncing with Outlook is a known issue. I haven't found a fix yet.

Personally, I think this version of DM is quite unstable. It gives errors, doesn't sync, doesn't always load Media Manager....4.2 SP2 is much more stable. For anyone using a 4.3 device (the 8130 so far) you can still use DM 4.2 SP2.

I can't get it to sync with Yahoo's Calendar either.

Back to 4.2 SP2 I go.

I absolutely hate 4.3 Desktop Manager. It's the same rubbish with a new face, and the Roxio bit is what annoys me the most - 250MB of bloatware, not what I expect from RIM.

Anyone tried the version from BlackBerry.com the official site (I know its a slow download) is it the exact same version or was the one on the Voda site a pre release hence the odd bugs?

So you installed 4.3 on top of (in other words, without uninstalling) 4.2sp2?

I would recommend going with the install from the BlackBerry Support website (http://www.blackberry.com/go/softwaredownloads). After unzipping it with WinRAR and comparing it to the one linked on the SmarTone-Vodafone site, I have noted that the one from the BB support site actually does contain the installer for the Media Manager OS, and seems as if it may be more stable. I can't install to test on this PC as there are no admin rights for my username ... however, I encourage someone to try a fresh install of the one hosted on the RIM site and let us know what happens.

Nice. Figured as much. I think this is the way for us all to go ... maybe this will resolve some of the synchronization errors, too? Who knows.

Did you clean install it? I just installed it over the top of what I had again. I don't want to uninstall 4.2 as it removes all my OS installations (edited .alx's, etc.)

I did a totally clean install no 4.2 sp2 of the download from BB.com and have had no issues so far it's all their and all seems to work (although so far I have only done a synch with my Yahoo, not tried vista mail contacts although I know that worked on the 4.3 from smartphone so no reason to think it wouldnt with this one!)

I downloaded the verison from Blackberry and installed it this morning. Did they remove the function to have it minimize to the sys tray? If not, how do you find that function now to hide when minimized?

I did the 4.3 install from the RIM website this morning - overtop of the 4.2 SP2. At first, Outlook synch did not work - it didn't even recognize my device. I did the old battery pull from my 8310, and the next time I connected, it worked perfectly. Go figure.

Have you tried upgrading an OS with it? The last time I tried it I got errors that DM would be closed, every time I clicked the apploader. It's hit or miss. Works for some but not others. Just beware problems are possible.

I wiped a Pearl to 507 and went to load the OS back to it. I kept getting an error "The Desktop Manager program has encountered an error and needs to close...." when going to the apploader to reload the OS. I rebooted the comptuer and tried it again and got the error again. I just tried it a few more times and it finally went through. it gave the same error after the OS loaded and the device rebooted.

I'm just not impressed. I would remove it from my PC if it didn't mean losing all my installed OS's (with edited .alx's, etc.) Just use caution.

I removed v4.3 from the computer as it was causing errors too. 4.2 Service Pack 2 is working like a charm...

Hi, BB Newbie here. My AT&T Curve was working great with 4.2 SP2. I upgrade to 4.3 from the RIM site and now it wants to delete and then add all of my contacts (1600+) every time. Before it would only update the records that had actually changed. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Other than a new aesthetic, what's changed? Obviously the launcher looks different, but the underlying apps seem identical to 4.2.

It seems to me that it really is a visual upgrade. I mean once you click on something it seems to go to the same dialog boxes as 4.2.

Seeing as DM 4.3 includes an upgraded media manager (iTunes playlist support... etc), does anyone know or can confirm the difference in version numbers? In media manager Help>about: My version (after installing 4.3 over 4.2 sp2) is: Roxio Easy Media Creator 9 (Build 910B72J ENU).

I'm just trying to confirm whether or not media manager was upgraded on my computer.

Tanks
