I took my iphone back yesterday and got the 8310. Every since I have had nothing but problems. At first I had no data and it took several calls and and hours with customer support to get that fixed. It ended up being that my account was never properly changed to a blackberry plan.
Now I cant install anything with the desktop manager. It says that there are no applications for my device. Even the things I have downloaded from Handango, specifically for my device, wont install and I get the same message. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times with the same results.
I am using the latest desktop software, downloaded from blackberry and att (several times). My phone has the latest software also.
My computer runs Vista Ultimate. When I had the blackberry from Verizon I didn't have any problems and everything installed fine.
Any ideas or should I take the phone back and swap it out?

You are getting this error message because you need to install the BlackBerry operating system software on to the computer. Once you do that you should be able to install applications via the Desktop Manager. The BlackBerry handheld OS software should be in a sticky thread at the top of the 8300 forum.

Thanks for your help. I got things to working by installing the Desktop Manager 4.3 version. That was the only version I hadn't tried. I thought my BB was up to date but I see now it wasn't. I'm updating it now.

you should not need to install your os to install via thedesktop manager. that is unnessecary

When I upgraded to the Desktop software version 4.3 it fixed the problem. I went ahead and updated the phone software afterwards.
I dont think it was just an issue with Vista (on my laptop) because I was having the same problems on my desktop. I tried it again on the desktop (running XP SP2) and it still wouldn't let me install any running the version 4.2.
