Default 8820:Handheld Calendar wants to delete 1664 entries in Outlook!

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

For months now I have talked to AT&T and Rim about my issue.
I run Microsoft XP Pro with a Microsoft Outlook version 2002.
My phone 4.2.2.169
Desktop manager 4.2.2.12
Every synch for the address book and memopad are perfect.
When I try to a synch the CALENDAR, it tells me that the handheld wants to delete 1664 dates from Outlook.

The fellows in Canada, RIM, have worked very hard with me to fix this. I have:
1. uninstalled the desktop manager and then reinstalled it.
2. done a clean wipe of the BB.
3. uninstalled the BB software from my computer and then reinstalled it.
4. worked every angle with preferences, synch directions.....
I asked them every time if there could be a problem with my Outlook. The all said no.
Any ideas, thoughts....Blessings, AJ

The first thing you can do is back up Outlook to a pst file on your computer. When you sync, after backing up. it should give you a spot to resync try that if they get deleted you can restore them from the back up.

Are you sure they're not old calendar entries? If you have the device set to not keep old entries then it *may* try to remove them from Outlook too. It seems like I've seen this with my wife's BB.

Default To your suggestions

Thank you both. My preferences for synching of appointments is for 'all", old and new. I want to keep them all.
As far as it goes for the backing up and resynch suggestion, I have done that as well. Where do I go from here? Could it be something with Outlook? Blessings, AJ

Under Calendar >Options >Keep Appointments you have it set to "Forever?"

In my desktop manager the synchronize preference is configured for configure synch calendar- handheld applications-advanced settings-date range to transfer all scheduled items. Are you talking about Outlook settings? Blessings, AJ

On the BB device. Make sure calendar items are set to keep forever. This uses more memory on the device, however. The entries that may have been purged won't come back, though.

That's because the device has already deleted them but they are still on Outlook. You can change your sync settings to have Outlook overwrite the handheld and then sync back normally again. That will put all the calendar events back on the device (if they are still in Outlook, that is.)

However, this method uses much more memory on the BB device.

No. In the settings for sync (I think it's "configure sync" under the configuration tab) There are some settings to "Import into handheld," "export from handheld," etc. Try the "import into handheld" and that should copy the Outlook info into the device.

Conflicts are different. A conflict is when a change has been made on both the pc and the handheld.

(I'm on BES so I never do this and my 4.3 Desktop Manager won't sync with Outlook so I can't give you specific instructions.)

If the above does not work delete DM and reinstall and then start over like a new device.

Also try and remove the calendar sync then sync the device and the recheck the calendar box and then sync again this happen to me once. removing the sync then doing it over worked for me.

Default I have the same problem - any solution found?

Each time I go to synch my 8830 with Outlook 2007, BB Desktop wants to delete all of my calendar entries in Outlook. Yes, I can continually import Outlook into my BB but this takes a lot of time and prevents me from entering calendar data into the BB & having it synch with Outlook. I had to replace my 8830 because the last one stopped working. When I first synched the new BB, it naturally worked. Without closing the desktop app, I synched again and it behaved the way one would expect, however, there were no new items on either side to synch. THe important point is that BB Desktop did not try to delete all of my Outlook Calendar items. A day later, I have attempted to re-synch by opening up the BB desktop and then plugging in the BB. The desktop now wants to again delete all of my Outlook Calendar items. I also have multiple calendars in Outlook (but am only trying to synch with one). Any ideas on how to fix this problem?
