Default OS 4.x

Please Login to Remove!

I have a couple of blackberry's on OS 4.x (an upgraded 7780, and a new 7290 with 4.x already installed), and noticed some wierd behavior!

We have our own BES, and normally, when I go to file a message (either sent or received) I am presented with my Outlook folder structure, but now, on either of these two, if I file a received message, I only get my web folders, but if I attempt to file a sent message, I get my "normal" Outlook folder structure. Also, on received mail, it shows "Desktop" as my profile - which is normal, but the folder that my mail is received in is my "Sent" folder??!!!

All other functionality is there - if I delete messages on either my BBY or desktop, they will sync and dissappear, and if I file them on my desktop, they will also be moved to the appropriate folder, but I cannot file them from my main messages window on my Blackberry!!!

The really dumb thing is if i search through a folder, I am presented with my Outlook folder list - basically, I can access my Outlook folder list anywhere but filing received messages.

My carrier says it is a random bug - and claims to have seen it before, and the only "solution" is to downgrade to 3.x!! (btw, my carrier is Rogers)

I really don't want to downgrade, and although I can live with it (because I just file messages on my desktop, and it will be reflected on my bby shortly afterwards), it really isn't a solution!

We (carrier tech support and I) did remove the service book and redownload it, but that didnt' help!

Has anyone seen this - and resolved it???
Thanks in advance

Your carrier is correct that this is a known issue and they only way to resolve is to downgrade DM version to 3.6, however I would check the users settings in BES to ensure that delivered messages are configured to be sent to the Inbox and not the Sent box..

On server (BES) goto BlackBerry Manager -> choose user -> Properties -> Redirection Tab and ensure that Folder Redirection is set to Inbox & Sent Items.

thanks for the information - I will have a look first thing in the morning, but I wasn't sure if I mentioned or not, but our BES has been up and running for about a year without a hitch, and all that was done was a switch from a 7780 to a 7290, and this problem arose. In fact, the problem arose when I upgraded my 7780 to version 4.x software, and even our new 7290 with 4.x pre-installed, had the same issue.

Is there a chance the settings on our BES were corrupted/changed either during the software upgrade, or PIN switch to cause it??

I have a feeling that it is the "known" problem, and I'll either have to downgrade, or wait.

Any idea how long RIM usually takes to react to issues such as this, and also any idea how widespread it is, or the possible configuration that triggers the odd behaviour?

Thanks in advance
