Default BB Desktop Manager 4 SP1 + BB 7100G crashing when I update

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

Been reading the forums and they've been very helpful when getting familiar with my first BB, but I wasn't able to find a thread with this problem...

I don't use BES, and I sync my Outlook with Desktop Manager. I've been doing it successfully with BB DM 4 (not SP1) and version 4 OS on my BB 7100G for a few months, but it has stopped working.

I plug in the BB and the DM software pops up and starts updating. The BB LCD says "Connected to Desktop" and DM starts updating. It goes from 1 to 25 "records" then when the status bar gets to the end, it just closes without warning.

I updated to DM 4 SP1 in the hopes that it would fix it (as the release notes did say it fixed one problem which caused DM to just close). I have also tried restarting my handheld, but no difference.

Also I will open the DM manager following the failed sync and it will often crash (with the Windows "Send / Don't Send" dialog).

Does anyone know could be wrong? My BB still has 11MB of the 32MB free, and I am using the standard OS from my carrier (Optus Australia), the only add-on I've used is the Vodafone theme I downloaded from this forum (which has been working successfully for a couple of months and I think is unrelated to my problem).

Also, I dont' have Outlook open at the time of sync (I found it never used to work with Outlook open as I'm sure it needs read/write access to my PST file).

Appreciate your help.

Default

.. and 5 minutes later I figured out how to fix it!!

I checked the log and looked through the 25 "records" being updated. Tried to figure out what was different.. I had added a recurring calendar event ("Mum's Birthday") and a recurring task ("Pay car loan") and I deleted both of them and it updated fine!

I've previously only put birthdays in via Outlook, and it seems to go to the handheld fine, but apparently not the other way around.

So hopefully this monologue wasn't in vain and someone with the same problem will benefit

Cheers.
