To what extent is HTTPS supported by Blackberry handsets. I have a 7290 with OS 4.xxx and I cannot view ANY HTTPS websites with the blackberry browser or the reqwireless one. This is a major - nay crippling - handicap for me! Even my Nokia 6600 supported HTTPS? Is the problem with my service provider (South Africa: MTN)? None of the MTN consultants can help me. Very frustrated.

I can get https sites no problem on my device.

If you check your software in application loader under the browser section...do you have the WTLS and SSL/TLS security packages installed?

Error message I get when I try and access, for example, http://www.gmail.com : "Error: unable to connect to server www.google.com" or https://www.sterkinekor.co.za/ gives me : "Error: Unable to connect to server www.sterkinekor.co.za (Winsock Error 110001 -- cannot resolve host name).

And yes ... I definately do have both WTLS and SSL/TLS security packages installed.

I guess no any BB service provided in your site, right? If yes, you're using BB standalone. Reqwireless webviewer personal version don't support OS4 completely and its Corp version seems support OS4 assisted with carrier's BIS. I have report this issue to Reqwireless support, but they're no idea yet. For standalone user, like u and me, no solution exists at this moment.
