Default Blackberry Windows Live Messenger?

Can anyone confirm this will work on BES 4.0?

we have tried to install on a couple of new 8310 curves and it fails with an error (doing the install directly on the handset) I have a feeling it might need BES 4.1 to work?

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/125)

I am not sure about BES, but with BIS, it will depend on if your provider allows Windos Live Meesenger, O2 in the UK for example, it doesn't so I can even download the application. So I assume you have to confirm with your provider. Also if you are on BES, I suggest Webmessenger, it's free and uses "apn" connection which I believe is used with BES
