Angry Stuck Trying to Sync Using Desktop Manager

Please Login to Remove!

I'm experiencing a problem with my 7750 -- when I put my blackberry in the cradle to sync up, the Desktop Manager gets stuck while "Seeding handheld random number generator". I've tried killing the desktop manager process, the blackberry handheld manager process, rebooting, removing the Research in Motion folder under my Documents and Settings folder ... everything I can think of, all to no avail. The Blackberry just shows the "Connected to Desktop" message/icon but I can't do anything else. I'm about to throw the stupid thing against the wall.

If I pull the blackberry out of the cradle, that "Seeding handheld..." panel goes away, but when I put it back in while at the Desktop Manager main window, it goes back to trying to seed the random number generator. If I take the blackberry out of the cradle, then click on the Intellisync icon, then put the blackberry back in the cradle, the "Configure PIM" button never gets enabled. It's almost as if some process within of the desktop manager recognizes that the blackberry is connected but another some other process does not.

And I have absolutely no earthly idea how to contact any customer support for this issue. Please, can someone, anyone, help me? My Desktop Manager version is 4.0.1.10, I recently received this replacement 7750 handheld (about a week ago) and it's running 4.0.0.171 and I'm using the Verizon Wireless network. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me or point me in any direction where I can resolve this problem.

Default

If you have completly un-installed Desktop Manager and removed all Research In Motion and Pumatech shared folders from C:\Documents & Settings\username\Application Data and also C:\Program Files & C:\Program Files\Common Files also delete all registry keys for RIM or Pumatech folders from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software..

After that reload Desktop Manager if that fails try security wiping your handheld and then reseed the device and if all else fails here's RIM direct number 877-255-2377;

Hope that helps!

Talking Thanks for Speedy and Helpful Reply

Thanks camerch for such a quick response. When I tried to sync with my computer at home and incurred the same situation, I realized that the problem must be with the handheld unit and not the Desktop Manager. I did like you said and wiped out the security settings and then re-sent the service books and lo and behold, I could sync and update the handheld once again. Since I backed up my data shortly before I got this replacement blackberry, I really didn't lose much data at all. Thanks for your help, I'm back in business.
