Default No phone icon - 07-23-2005, 05:26 AM

Hiya folks, bit of help please.

I've got a 6710 on UK Vodafone running version 3.6.0.38 (o/s 1.4.38.0), it will find the network but I've got no phone icon.

When I attempt to use phone functions I get internal error message 41 12, and when I turn the machine off using the icon I can't turn it on again without removing the battery.

Is it bost?

Do I need to upgrade the software, and if so what o/s is the optimal for a 6710?

Muchos grassyarse

Dave

Could be a matter of an OS upgrade but if your 6710 is and 8MB model 3.6.0.38 may be as good as it gets... Something could be corrupt with the OS? You could try downloading the javaloader.exe (serach it, its been posted here a couple times) it will wipe the device clean and re-install a fresh copy of the OS.

Vodafone's handheld OS update is at - https://www.blackberry.com/SoftwareD...ient=HZMHZfRPj

As Finch noted, check which version of the 6710 you have (8 MB or 16 MB by doing an Options / Status) and checking the total memory.

There are two versions on this website - 3.6.0.83 and a version of 4.0 which should only be used on 16 MB 6710s.

Good luck.

Thanks people.

Status shows; file total 14417920 bytes with file free 8744380 bytes.

I reckon that's 16Mb, or have I got my sums wrong?

Well ... I didn't have anything to lose as the 6710 only cost £8.80 off ebay and was advertised as being faulty.

I downloaded javaloader off the blackberry website yesterday and (eventually) managed to wipe the handheld clean and reload v4.0.0.188.

I now have all phone functions, browser etc working perfectly.

Thanks for your help folks.
