Default BES and Destop Manager Questions - 04-20-2008, 09:49 AM

I have current version of BB Professional Express (which I'm told is essentially the same as BES) The BB website brags that the BBPE works and plays well with MS Exchange on the same server. Before installing BBPE, I installed an extra 2 gigs of RAM (total 4) based on the system reqt. of 1.5 gigs of free ram. Prior to the install my system was consistently running at around 1.6 - 1.7 of my available 2gigs. Aftern install, the RAM usage has ballooned on a daily basis to now using about 2.9 gigs of the available 4 with SQLServer and Store being the goblins.

A. Is this normal/rational?
B. Is this something that will abate as we approach our limits or am I going to have to reboot the server to avoid a crash at some point?

Second Question:
I installed the current version of Desktop Manager (with roxio) on my HOME desktop (this is NOT the machine that is connected to the exchange server that is feeding by BB). I selected the BES configuration when installing. I observed in the installation process that it said things like "connecting to server" etc. I have not connected the BB to this machine to this point as I am DEATHLY afraid of screwing up my BB settings....(it took about 2 weeks to get it completely dialed in and its working perfectly...I don't want to screw with anything).

I installed this software at home because I generally don't have time at the office to play with things and would rather do things like backups and third party apps and such at home when I have the time.

A. In light of the above will connecting my BES configured BB to the home computer mess up my BB settings and/or be ill advised for any reason?
