Default Desktop Redirector Problems - 08-05-2005, 10:55 PM

I'm using Outlook and I can finally(!) get the redirector to start. Its shows Running but there are pending message to the handheld.

Outlook receives messages from my email accounts and sends it but I keep getting messages from the RIM network with encryption information.

In the desktop manager the redirector shows the correct PIN. What whould be the Email Address in the Advanced screen?

This is driving me crazy!

Are you using an Exchange e-mail server? Redirector only works with Exchange. Not POP-3...

No Exchange Server here. Just Outlook 2003.

I read in other threads that redirector will work without it.

Default This is what i do... - 08-10-2005, 03:48 PM

Using Blackberry Web Client - log in and configure my POP3 servers and details. BWC gets my email every 15 minutes or so.

On my desktop - I've configured Outlook to go to my POP3 servers every 45 minutes to get my email - thus I always get a copy on my BB and then it later appears in Outlook.

No redirector and all works well - if only I could synch my calendar...

I've been told that an exchange server was needed for the redirector but that's untrue. I've been running w/ just outlook on a pop 3 since january. I also have the web client sending emails to it also. It all works fine. All I have to do now is figure how to keep spam from being redirected to the BB from the redirector account.

I have seen where the Redirector screwed up someones pop3 account and the mailbox had to be deleted by the service provider and recreated.

Redirector is ment only to work with EXCHANGE
Desktop manager and redirector need to write information to the mailbox. With pop3 you can not do this therefore it is unsupported. When your pop3 and redirector stop working do not contact your carrier or RIM becuase you will just be told that it is unsupported. Get yourself a BIS account and integrate the pop account.
