Default tmo has made me lose my mind - 06-23-2008, 08:15 PM

for the life of me i cant get this Cingular bb 8100 to take the tmo hh sw

i have done everything right multiple times on two different lappys

use jl_cmdr to put device in error 507

download software from tmo website
8100_Pearl_4.2.1.107.exe

have desktop manager installed

install hh sw

delete vendor.xml

connect bb and start DM

start upgrading process

is it possible that tmo software for the bb 8100 is just a plain jane vanilla software that has no tmo stuff in it?

what am i missing?

It should work just as you described... is the DM detecting the BB on the USB?

Any carrier OS will work, there's not a difference in regard to the carriers once you have deleted the vendor.xml file.

the DM SW detects the device fine, so does jl_cmdr

i wipe to error 507
follow the instructions in the order, select the sw components i want to install, start the HH SW load. it goes through the erasing and initialixing and loading and yadda...but everytime its down hourglassing it shows up as att and its driving me crazeeeeeeeeeee....

i grabbed the vodafone 4.5 hh sw and tried that and the same thing...stays att and this is after error 507 was the initial load state. i have three pearls, two branded cingular, one branded att and they all do the same thing...stay att after error 507 and then tmo hh sw load

it boggles the mind...

Nothing you can do about that, it's a AT&T branded BB...

The splash page at the boot up can NEVER be changed. The software is immaterial. If your device is unlocked your Tmo SIM will work fine.

you might be missing what i am getting at... i am trying to get the tmo HH sw on there so it has the tmo whatever branding and crap on there...just like if it was an att bb with att hh sw it would have ptt and att navigator and crap.... these are all staying att bb hh sw as they all still have PTT on there and the att crap..

thanks in advance

All the Tmo programs (no myFaves) will be pushed via service book from the provider. PTT will need to be removed from the device.

you can load any software you want on that device, its all dependent on the SIM card and whats pushed from the carrier. There is NO fundamental difference between the two OS's. The application push from the carrier doesnt take that long and requires zero action on your part.

You will need to remove cod files from the Java folder to remove PTT, etc., if you don't want it.

Sounds like you are doing just what you need, so far. Just more to do. See John Clarks Memory Optimazation post in the Sticky Notes of our General BB Discussion sectiono here.

If you want a moto, get a moto.
