JS,
I’ve been trying to get this to work for a few weeks with no success. I’m running v 4.5.0.46 and upgraded to BIS 2.5. Have run the gambit of resending service books and battery pulls. When I click on "get images" and "yes" to the security message I get a few flickers of blue arrows and then………….nothing !
Do you have any suggestions ?
Thanks,
TD

So you do you do have BIS 2.5 enabled, or you wouldn't see the choice to Get Images.

Completely delete ALL your email-related Service Books at Options > Advanced > Service Books. Delete any with the @.

Pull the battery and reboot the phone. Confirm those SBs are gone in the options.

Go to your BIS account and resend the service books fresh. You will get the registration message in your messages.

Now what happens?

Hey Guys!
I use to have the same problem, it started work only after I entered the correct APN(in my case isp.vodafone.ie )in options/advanced options/TCP ,you can obtain it from your wireless carrier, or you might be able to find most of them here: www operamini com/ help/ connect/

Now that I have 4.5 with HTML email, is there any reason to keep empower mail viewer loaded on my BB? I rather free up the space if there is a redunancy in apps.

Thanks

i wish it would auto download the images like the prefrence says! HTML rocks, but it would be cooler if we could figure out a work around

People who say that all you have to do is get images once from a particular email and it will auto load after that, doesnt seem to work. i get daily emails from many places (ebay, paypal, my realtor) and the images show up sometimes but other times not.

I'm not getting the enable HTML email option whatsoever. I've updated to 4.5, resent service books countless times, hard reset over and over... :(

I am running 4.5.0.52 Orange UK on my T-Mobile 8320 and for the life of me cannot get HTML e-mail to show up. I have removed service books and resent them over and over and to no anvil, I cannot get this to work. Any thoughts? Am I missing something?

I've tried the servicebook send from my pc several times with T-Mobile but no luck. What do I need to delete first?

I currently use empower and tried upgrading to 4.5 and the html feature sucks compared to Empower. I tried loading Empower on the 4.5 platform and it wouldn't work. I ended up downgrading to the old OS and am using Empower.
The only reason I liked 4.5 was the ability to open mp3 files in emails.

I had to reset my BlackBerry with T-Mobile back to my old 8700g then reregister the 8320 to get the options to show up. Shortly after that, I got the dreaded App 205 error and just went back to 4.2 for now.

502 error you mean?

If you follow the instructions at the top it works. Sometimes, you may need to delete your service books from the BB first, delete your BIS accounts on your carrier website, and then resend the service books.

The native OS 4.5 HTML is much cleaner and better looking than Empower (IMO!). But if you prefer it at 4.2, it is what works for you.

I am getting full HTML emails with picture, without having to OK the pictures they come automatically, on a 8100 Pearl and an 8320 Curve with T-Mo.

Probably worth noting that it won't display any existing email in my inbox that was sent as HTML even after I resent service books. However, I did forward an existing HTML mail to myself after resending books and it rendered the HTML just fine.

That's right. Only emails received *after* the upgrade will display html.

I deleted the Service Books on the device and resent them, but it still isn't working consistently.

When I do "get images" some of the images are downloaded, others are not. Going to the missing images and selecting "get image" doesn't help.

Also getting "truncated" message notes at the end of the messages.

So far, not so good w/this new feature for me. Hopefully they'll work out the issues soon. They have got to add the option to always get images automatically for me to really like this feature.

I can't get my email to display html. I don't see the setting for html in the Email Settings options. I have resent my Service books and pulled the battery. The only thing I haven't tried was to delete the Service books. Which do I delete?

Delete any of your Service Books with the @ symbol, indicating it is an email service book.

Hi John;

so, do you have At&t also?
I tried this on my BES 8310 and pushed the service books from the At&t side but no joy. I thought the POP setups might work and let me see the menu but no joy. I guess I may have to wait for our server admins to upgrade the BES.

If I had a nickle for every "search and read the instructions"....post I have read.
After a week of no Docs to Go and no HTML email viewer in 4.5. I put 2 & 2 together. I searched HTML viewer found JSander's helpful little instruction manual and now I have HTML and DTG. I thought I was sending the service books but must have been 'resending' old service books. Once I got to the RIM online email settings. TaDa
Thanks JSanders!

OK so is it a good idea to buy the full version of DTG for a Beta copy? Or is it a good idea to wait till the official release. It seems a bit pricey compared to BB smart and empower.

You are welcome. Thank you, too.

You do know that DTG and Empower/BBSmart are two different type products?

Do the upgrade of your DTG apps, and it will add SheetsToGo for you.

I would not recommend adding the Premium upgrade at this point, the largest addition is the ability to create "new" documents from your BB, of which you can load a blank "new" doc to your BB and always "save as".

But none of this has to do with HTML on the BB.

JS great advice. Check on different types of programs. The reason I asked about the prem edition. While trying to get DTG going I signed up for a DTG prem trial. I didn't realize not having HTML enabled was keeping me blocked from DTG.
