It happened again. I'm on level 8 (the second time) with a score of 22,300 and 11 lives. I lost my ball. I've lost it on this level before a couple of times. Although this game has yet to beat my high score, I'm putting the game down for a week in the hopes that my ball will magically reappear.

How about a tip or two for an absolute NEWBIE. Is there a way to save your level and restart there? All I've managed to do is start at level 1 until I"m killed (usually level 3) , then start all over again at level 1. It sounds like you guys have a much better method.

Bouncy Ball Gone -
12-19-2007, 11:52 PM
OK - So judging by the post the ball disappearing through the wall is common! It has happened to me numerous times. One time it did come back, but I have no idea how. I did lose a life but my game resumed. I think my 3 year old got a hold of it and did something. I have never been able to recover a ball since.

ball disappearing? -
01-15-2008, 03:15 PM
On my 7100, I never had problems with the ball disappearing. I actually got up to around 300,000 points and 92 lives and unfortunately had to turn in my BB as I changed jobs. Now I have the Pearl and have had the ball dissapear several time. I noticed this happens when the bricks first start going down, so as someone suggested above, I will wait until the bricks come down two or three times.
Ironically, I have never been able to get my ball back once it goes through the wall. However, it just occurred a few minutes ago and I got frustrated and logged on to the web and found this forum. When I was done reading through the entries I went back to my blackberry, 15 minutes later, the ball reappeared and I lost one life. I am not sure why it reappeared this time.

I was at around 600,000 when I dropped my Blackberry, and the battery came out, losing the game altogether. DAMMIT!!!!
I've got another run going now though: 737,000 with 201 lives remaining. Just have to take care of the phone better....

I'm currently at 84000 with 40 lives. It took me almost 4 years and 5 different blackberries to get to this point. I'm not sure how high I'll go but it's great turning the game on and knowing you have 40 lives to play with.

To those who don't have/can't find the game: If you're on a BES you might have had it disabled.

Try Again? -
05-08-2008, 06:35 PM
Has anybody figured out how to stop the "Try Again" that happens occasionally without loss of life? It is most annoying and seems to happen about 1-2 times each time I go through game. It started happening about a month ago shortly after I dropped my BB at the gas station. I've got a great game going (1.2 million and 196 lives). I started a log file and bump the count each time I finish the game. I'm currently at 78 and don't want to lose it... Is there an official high score page somewhere?
Thx.
Another dead-legger...

HIGH scores -
05-14-2008, 12:55 AM
On my BB 8830, there are only 34 levels and I've gotten to level 33. But, my score is ONLY 15780. My question is how do folks score so many points? What am I missing? And, I have also noticed that is you receive life on first screen, it seems like they come more often.

I have 100's of balls on the screen every time I start Brick Breaker. It's so bad I can no longer play this game. Would some of you people please come and retrieve your balls?

I've learned many things since last week's post on the "Try Again?" issue. I was on a trip to Vegas and was getting 15-20 Try Again dialogs without loss of life on each level that I finally gave up and started a new game to see if the BB was broke or if that is simply part of the game.
1) If you select "New Game" and effectively cancel the current game, it will NOT update your Hi Score readout on your blackberry (ouch!). Instead of 1.2+ million, it still reads 30K...
2) The 3rd-76th times through the game are MUCH easier than the 1st and 2nd time through the game. I have played about 15 new games since cancelling the long-running game and have only gotten through the 1st 34 levels 4-5 times and never been able to get past the second pass.
3) The "Try Again" dialog has not happened at all since I started a new game.
4) The roller on the BB which I thought was going out and cost me about 50 lives (from 236 down to 170 before I gave up that game) works fine once I started a new game. When "broken", it seemed to move inconsistently and make the paddle jump instead of rolling smoothly.
So, to summarize my experience, I'm now convinced that the game has some built-in behavior to keep you from playing indefinitely. I started seeing this at around 1,000,000 and about 60 times through the game. I'm curious if others have seen similar behavior to confirm my beliefs.

I'd agree with the built-in behavior. I was sitting at almost 300k points with 70+ lives when my Curve started acting very funny. Never actually crashed but things started going very slow. Navigating through screens was painful. I didn't want to reset the Curve since I knew I'd lose my high score so I lived with it. Then 2 days later the whole thing just crashed. Now, I'm back to square one.

OK all you slackers, I'm sitting with 2758120 score and 1253 lives. The same game has been going for not quite a year. I play when I'm stuck in traffic, or in an elevator, or waiting for appointments. I call it my "wasted time meter" for all the down time I have. When I get to 3333330, I plan to end the game and submit a high score. I can't figure out why I always get a wrong password message when I try to submit my score though, any ideas?
