i have a blue ball on my homescreen for PTT. i dont use the service and just signed into it once. how do i remove the small ball from my homescreen without removing the actual icon and application?

How do you remove it without removing it?? You might want to clarify your question. You can HIDE the icon so you don't accidently hit it or you can remove it by following John Clarks Memory Optimization Guide.

to clarify, i dont want to remove the actual PTT icon (from the menu screen). i want to remove the tiny blue ball on the top right portion of the screen (by the date and battery meter).

Perhaps try opening the PPT app then hit menu and close to make sure it's closed. I've never seen that icon but I have also never used PTT. I removed it when I upgraded to 4.5
