I am new to the forums and to Blackberry. I tried to find the kind of Runtime error I am experiencing, before I posted. I had no luck. Forgive me if I this has been answered. It seems there are many types of Runtime errors.

I have a Verizon Blackberry 8330. Every time I try to sync with the desktop I get the error message along with this text.

C:\Windows\SMINST\BLService.exe

Any help would be appreciated.

What is the operating system on your computer? Do you have all the Windows Updates?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and bring up the list of everything installed on on your PC. Check to see if you have Microsoft .NET Framework, any version.

Edit to add... I Googled that error and found this:

BLservice.exe runtime error

Is your PC a HP and/or do you have an HP printer installed?

I'm sorry. I have a HP tablet PC running Vista. I have checked for the .NET framework in my programs and it is not listed. I looked at the link your provided and am i to understand from that I should remove any printer software from my computer to fix it?

After looking more on Google, it seems that some have had this error with other things besides printers, and it appears to be HP related.

But it may be that you need the .NET Framework 1.1. You can download it from Microsoft here:

Download the file to your desktop, and then double-click to install it. Then reboot and see if that fixes the problem. If not, I'd contact HP support. The problem is not related to BlackBerry -- looking at the Google results, it appears to be a HP problem.
