My brother just got a BB Pearl (8130) from Sprint and I have a VZW 8830, but for whatever reason we are having a heck of a time getting each other into our BB Messenger contacts. I have my several other people in there with no problems and they all have him in their contacts, but we can't seem to get it working.

I'm running 4.5.0.77 and he's got whatever came as the default on his Pearl.

Whenever he sends me a request to add or accepts my request, I receive it as an email and there's nothing I can do with it. We've tried by PIN and email address with no luck. Any ideas?

Could this be a problem because I'm running Messenger 4.5 and he's only on 4.3 (or whatever it is)?

The different OS's on your devices shouldn't matter.

Try this test - go into the Messages applicatoin and 'Compose PIN'. Address it to your brother's phone and send it (put 'test' or something in the Subject).

After you send it, and when he receives it, you should see a D above the checkmark (checkmark indicating a sent message in the Messages app). If he receives it, can he reply back to you?

juwaack, we can communicate with each other without any problems. I'm not sure how/why, but the last time that I tried to add him to my Messenger contacts by PIN, it worked. Unfortunately, he still can't get me into his contacts. So he either has to keep an old conversation open or wait for me to message him.

As I understand it, he opens BB Messenger, selects "Add Contact", and then either enters my BB PIN or my email. Unfortunately, I get the following email on my BB:

Even when I previously tried to add him, I'd get similar types of emails when he's accepted.

This has me very confused.

I'm having this same problem trying to add PIN contacts in Blackberry Messenger to my fiancee's 8310; She sees me as a (pending) contact and drafts messages to me, but they don't get delivered. What I see in her message list is the little clock, which I assume is the 'time out' symbol. The documentation on this from RIM is absolutely atrocious, by the way.

I've noticed that on her 8130 Curve, under Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing table, the table is *empty* and when I select menu > register now, that nothing happens. When I do the same thing on my own 8130 Pearl, I get a message telling me that my BB is registered on the network. The Curve gets no such message.

For what it's worth, the Curve is on the Rogers network, and the Pearl is on Bell mobility.

I don't think that the Curve on Rogers has full Data functionality. I've seen something in Options > Advanced Options > that indicated the Curve was waiting for a BES activiation. What I am not sure of is whether this is an error, or if it is by design - such as due to some convoluted rate plan shenanigans. My Pearl on Bell mobility has an unlimited data plan, and is only on BIS.
