Default error 507 for curve 8130

hey all,
been getting the 507 message and while trying to work through the issue via FAQ and trying to use the JL CMDer, I have been hitting some obstacles. first, I have the newest OS downloaded and installed on the computer. Upon running the loader.exe (after deleting vendor.xml), the software says there are no further updates for the phone. By hitting the "advanced" button and manually telling it to backup files first, it says it is unable to connect to the device (windows still recognizes it upon plug-in).
I know I have the newest desktop manager and OS, do I need to update drivers of any sort? the JL CMDer was not working as intended but thats a different fish to fry if I can get this OS loaded on a blackberry that thinks its up to date.

Merry Christmas all, hope this initial post was informative enough!

Default

to update and clarify.

so with the desktop manager, going through the update software steps, it does recognize that I have the newest OS ready to load but the phone will simply not connect to the DM. it goes through the connecting to device bar, and upon completing the search I get a window saying 'the desktop loader is unable to connect to the device.' i keep retrying the connection but to no avail. was there something about pulling the battery out and initializing the connection? any other tips?
