Default Pull Battery gives me new pin?

Please Login to Remove!

On my BB Messenger, every time I pull my battery, it says that my device has a new pin number, even though I checked (just to make sure something crazy didn't happen) and it didn't change the PIN number. Update your contacts to make them aware of it? If I don't check yes, it threatens me that my contact list will be erased. Additionally, there are times when I have to resend bb messages to a friend 4 or 5 times before he receives one of them. Is their a known fix for this?

I've upgraded to one of the latest software versions (4.5.077).
My carrier is Verizon Wireless.

Pulling the battery does not change the PIN. To see your PIN, go to Option > Status. I'm not sure why you're getting those messages. I've never had that happen.

Must be a bug in the OS.. Although I did have that problem with .77, I would try following the instructions in the FAQ for wiping a device with JL_CMDer and reloading the OS, see if that helps.

Or you could try uninstalling the BBM and then doing a battery pull, reinstall it, have get a buddy and do another battery to test.

I took it to the verizon wireless store and the technician didn't have a clue what to do. She ran a few tests, and updated the host tables for my device. It fixed it miraculously. She said that if I have anymore problems with it, that I should just do a hard reset (back up and reload the device).

Here were the symptoms that it solved:
- When someone called, the number was displayed as opposed to the name of the contact in my phone.
- When I messaged my friend with blackberry messenger, some of the messages were never received.
- When I pulled the battery, it said that I have updated my device and I should tell the contact list (or else the contact list for bb messenger will be erased).

Hope that helps other users if there is a similar problem out there.

I actually have the same issue, as far as the BB messenger wanting to resend my PIN or deleting everything. How can I update the host tables myself?

Options -> Advanced Options -> Host Routing Table, hit the menu key and choose register.

I tried that, then did a battery pull and then when the phone booted back up, I registered the phone again. Went to the BB messenger and it wanted me update all my contacts again. I did not and the phone actually followed up on its threats and deleted all my contacts...this is highly annoying. Any help to resolve this would be great.

PS. I did reload the OS...this only happened when I upgraded from 4.2.2 to 4.5.0.110
