Question DM password mis-match from device

Please Login to Remove!

I have a work colleague ask me if I ever heard of the following problem:

She connects to DM and it asks for her password (just like mine does).
She enters her device password and it does not accept it.

She can access her locked device just fine -- the device password don't seem like an issue.

She has a older 88xx verizon flavor. I have no idea what version of DM or OS on the device.

My gut instinct is uninstall DM and reinstall the latest version. I've found excellent directions from d_fisher that seem like it will do that part. I'm just worried that at the end of the process I'll be no closer to fixing the original issue.

It is likely that the user is pressing a symbol or capitalized letter (by holding a key just long enough on the BB) on the device, of which she is not doing so on the DM password.

That is often seen as a user issue here.

she thought her password was numbers -- in my mind I thought she was using the ALT key to get them.

Turns out you were right.

She typed the letters that correspond to the numbers on the BB keys on the desktop keyboard.

Now she can get in.
