Default Any media player improvements on the way?

I asked a question recently in the Bold forum, but got no response, so I'm asking a related question here. I'm on I recently started watching videos on the Bold instead of my iPod touch. The screen is a bit smaller, but the brightness is great!

The problem I'm having is that the trackball is miserable at navigating the video. If I watch something that is an hour long, and scroll the ball to fast, it will jump straight to the end of the show. If I scroll too slow, it moves by seconds at a time. This is just too cumbersome.

So, first of all, does the latest O/S have any features in it to address this dilemma? (I doubt it.) Next - anyone have any info on whether there are any new features coming to address this? Or should I be looking for a 3rd party media player?

Nothing that I've heard about, I'd like to see some browser improvement to, the rumor mill would probably get this thread going
8830 -> 8330 -> 9550 -> 9650
