Any ideas anyone? I don't care, but my girlfriend thinks its the only reason to have a blackberry.

Blackberry Desktop Software for Synchronization -
09-03-2005, 09:17 PM
Hi
I am Treo600 user and thinking of switching to Blackberry but I have several questions. As I am small business without "Black Berry Enterprise Server" or "Microsoft Exchange Server" I wanted to know
A) Can I use Blackberry Internet service to access my corporate email or SBC(Pacbell) email using POP3 ?
B) Can I use any third party Contact Management applications like Chapura for address book organization ?
Is Blackberry desktop synchronization software capable of synchronizing multiple outlook folders and multiple categories ?
I will really appreciate prompt response.
Thanks
Sanjay

Stonent, star reply thanks.
The options you get are to hide application or show all, you can then select show all, shift-click the application to display and then you unselect hide application for that application and then unselect show all to hide all the hidden applications again. I have now hidden half my applications cos I hardly ever use them.

Use Hong Kong CSL firmware. It includes all the character sets for China and Chinese territories.

I haven't seen anyone comment on this.. Looks like the latest version available for the 7290 and 7100. Anyone tried it?
Direct link here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...E3F94D95B11DAF
CellularOne is a GSM carrier. Enter 99901 as your zip if you are having trouble getting through their website.
From the blackberry update website:
Package Version: 4.0.2.53
Consisting of:
Applications: 4.0.2.36
Software Platform: 1.8.0.139
File name: 7290M_PBrER4.0.2_rel53_PL1.8.0.139_A4.0.2.36-Dobson.exe
File size: 34.3 MB
Is there any reason this would not work? The update of my Cingular 7290 with the TMobile release of 4.0.2.32 worked..

When you run the Application Loader you have to check the Password Keeper for it to load, it is not checked by default.

Help! I updated the software on my 7520 and desktop from Nextel.com/blackberry. Everything went nicely. Next time I opened Desktop Manager, it ran Windows Installer and gives me this message:
The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'BlackBerry 7520.msi' in the box below.
I searched my harddrive and cannot locate this file. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the desktop software to no avail. The desktop manager is completely unaccessable as it will not let me get past this error in Windows Installer. I tried reloading the original desktop software from the CD-Rom that came with the phone. Nothing seems to work. I am stuck and ready to toss this computer and the BlackBerry out the window!!! What should I do?
UPDATE: Problem solved. See detail on seperate thread.

My Blackberry is unlocked now. If I install the Hong Hong CSL, will it still be unlocked? Also, will any of it be in Chinese? For that matter, will it say Hong Kong CSL anywhere on the device?

Unlocking is separate from the Blackberry's operating system it will not be affected by changing the software

Telus now has the latest 4.0.2.XX software for 7250/7750/7510/7520 - The older 7750 is included.
Hong Kong CSL now has the latest 4.0.2.XX software for 7230's - Should also work on North American 7230/7280's too. (At your own risk) (Not 7250 or 7290)

Yes, a forum search will tell you that question gets asked hundreds of times each month in this forum. There are plenty of threads here showing how to do what you just asked. (In fact it has been asked several times in this thread)

6230 Upgrade Error Message -
10-25-2005, 11:45 AM
I recently bought a 6220/6230 (not sure if they are the same) on ebay and would like to upgrade to os 4.0. I found lots of guides on this thread and all seemed to go well until I got the error message "Blackberry Core 4.0 Some files are Missing". This happens after I plug the device into the computer, I click upgrade now and the applications loader screen comes up. I hit next and the error pops up. This unit is an AT&T wireless 6230. I have downloaded the OS 4.0 upgrade from the list found at the beginning of this thread as well as the desktop manager. The current software version on the unit is 3.6.0.51. I have tried to search for this error but nothing came up. I have deleted the vendor.xml file and still no luck. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.
Update: I have got it to work. It turns out I have a 6210. So I downloaded the 6200 upgrade from Cingular/AT&T and it worked 100%.

This seems to be the latest 7290 OS. The platform is the same as Cingular but the apps version is higher. Does it matter that Telstra is CDMA and I am on Cingular? If i delete the vendor.xml, will it work? Wonder if there is any value in doing it?
Thanks

All 7290's are GSM. If Telstra is selling a 7290 then they are using a GSM network somewhere.

4.0.2.86 hmm
Maybe this could fix the problems some people have reported with grey boxes appearing or problems with call timers.

4.0.2.49 experiences on Vodafone UK -
11-01-2005, 09:07 AM
I'm planning to upgrade from v4.0.0.234 (installed when I received the device), and wondered if anyone on Vodafone UK had any advice/warnings before I proceed. Is it worth the change? In particular, does it improve volume on Bluetooth headsets as some report?
Any feedback much appreciated.

All 4.0.2 releases improve the bluetooth volume.
4.0.2 also features a much better calculator.

Problems with upgraded 4.0 on BB 7520.
I upgraded the software on 10/31/05, and i'm not getting the Interner Browser, just the old NOL. I was on the phone with Nextel's tech support and she had me go threw resetting service book, security master radio reset, taking battery out and resetting, and Host Routing Table few times during today. Tech said to give it 24 hours, but it looks like others arnt having this delay issue.
What other settings can I adjust?
Should I take it to a Nextel/Sprint store to try to upgrade it?
I've been paying for insurance on it since I bought it in March, should I make a claim and try a new 7520?
Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks,
Dave

This was released in September but it was not noted here. Cingular has the latest 4.0.2 code for 72xx and 77xx phones (non Bluetooth) This is newer than HK CSL

The only thing on the O2 site is 3.7
http://www.my-blackberryfromo2.com/d..._A3.7.1.21.exe
You'll have to download Cingular and delete the vendor.xml file.
