When you're in Messages, if a date line is selected, you will go right into composing an email by clicking the wheel. If you have a message highlited, click the wheel and select Compose.
When you're in the To:, CC:, or BCC: fields, start typing a name and the names that fit what you're typing will display. If you've got a BES setup, you can also perform a Lookup from here, and of course you can just type an email address .
The phone has a similar function on devices that have a Call/Send button. Hitting the button quickly will simply bring up the Phone screen, but if you push and hold the button, your contacts list will appear, and you can type the name you want to call, and hit to call them or bring up the list of numbers available for them.

The new files are posted on vodacom.co.za.
One question I do have for the gurus is we have a new version of both dekstop and OS posted by Vodacom. OS is 4.1.0.309 and desktop is 4.1.0.13, does it matter which sequence they are installed in? Should I do the OS first or the desktop or doesn't it matter. I ask because a long time ago I did something with an upgrade and I can't remember what it was, but then when I clicked on the appplication loader in the dekstop it couldn't find the handlheld OS information or something and it wasn't happy? I ended up with a new tablet pc and fresh install and all was well using the old CD that came with the device, which is version 4.0 of the Dekstop Manager. I don't want to repeat that again if possible. Thanks in advance for the help.

When upgrading an unlocked phone (Tigeridrect 7100t), which is prensently at version 4.01 to version 4.1 do you loose your unlocked property?
It was previously a t-mobile phone and the new firmware comes from t-mobile
Thanks

Wondering if anyone has had the experience one of my Exec user is reporting.
He has a 7230 that we upgraded to 4.x software OS. He is stating "when I open even a short email am I constantly get a message "more available" which requires me to hit "more" to get the actual email. This is very slow and frustrating. It never happened until my bb s/w was upgrade."
Any insight on this would be great!
Thanks

Downloaded new OS, now Enterprise doesn't recognize me -
07-12-2006, 09:37 AM
I downloaded the Bharti OS for 8700 and now it is prompting me to give an email and a password but when I enter the password, it tells me there has been and error and to contact my administrator. Well, My administrator is an idiot, so can anyone help. I saw a few entries on this thread about the carriers disabling the blackberry browser. Might this be the cause.
Thanks for any help.

OK I have read almost all 15 pages of this thing, but still can't find my answer.
On my computer I have 4.0 and BB OS is 4.0 as well. I would like to upgrade the BB to 4.1 Do I have to upgrade both desktop and BB seperately? The download from Cingular has only 1 file.
Also, are there any additional passwords, etc. needed for installation. This is a corporate device and I don't want to mess it up.
thanks

Just found the BB DM 4.1 for french users (SFR/Vodafone) and RIM 4.1 OS.
Just follow the links ->

RIM OS : sfrentreprises.fr/tpe-pme/solutions-data/acces-messagerie/portail/BlackBerry/logiciel-terminal/index.jsp
PS : Sorry for long URL, I'm too young to make "fewer" ones .... :/

will Cingular's 8700c software installed on T-M 8700g fix the Bluetooth/BMW issue -
07-28-2006, 12:35 PM
Has anyone put the cingular OS on a T-Mobile 8700g and tried out the Bluetooth functions? I want to get an 8700g (I have T-Mobile service) and need it to integrate with the BMW Bluetooth function (in an '06 330i). The cingular 8700c is listed as a compatible phone, but the T-Mobile 8700g is not (and forum members report that the 8700g does not pair with the car's system). Has anyone installed the cingular OS on the T-Mobile 8700g and tried this out?

EDIT: It has since appeared on the Rogers link... Strange.

Anybody got an opinion on whose software version is best for the 7100t? I'm currently using HK CSL version 4.1.0.256 for the 7100g. I looked at the HK software and they only show software for the 7130g. I'm assuming it's compatible but wondering if anyone has tried it. I've had no problems with my current HK software so haven't paid a lot of attention to the different upgrades lately. I did read that a lot of users didn't like TMO's 4.1 version so I never upgraded to it.

Ok...so I can't get the 7130g software to load on a 7100t. Can anyone shed any light on that? Is it just not compatible? TMobile is about the only carrier to make 7100 software available anymore. Must be time for a new BB. Any suggestions?

Yes, you have to upgrade both the Desktop and the Handheld software in order to upgrade the Handheld software (4.1). My device is a 7250 and we are using BES 4.0. So, my device is a corporate device.

I updated my 7100t to Cingular's 4.1.0.292. I modified the .alx file to give me all the packaged themes plus a few extras I've extracted from other OS's (I guess I renivented the wheel cuz I found jibi's thread on that after I did all that work..oh well). My question is this: I'm missing the preloaded pictures for background images. My personal ones are there but the default (locked) pics are gone. The filenames are there with a placeholder and they show a size of -1B. Anyone have any ideas how to get them back? I'm running the Zen theme...if it matters.

I've updated my 7100t to the new OS 4.1.0.309 on Tmobile. Features are great and everything is seemingly working, other than the voice. Everyone I've spoken with hears poor voice quality (very very distant) but I can hear them fine. I've tried re-installing the OS but have not tried downgrading as I can not find the files anywhere. This is using the regular device mic as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

You could try Cingular's version. I am running it on my 7100t and haven't had any complaints from anyone. I got it from the link on the first post of this thread. My only complaint is that the preloaded pics are gone...haven't figured out why yet.

What's the latest system software I should load on my 7130c? I see that the cingular software version xxxxx.401 is higher than the version for t-mobile, but the applications version for t-mobile is higher than the application version for the cingular software.

T-Mobile does not offer software for the 7130c. You can not take software for one species of BlackBerry (7105t, for example) and put it on a another (7130c).

As far as I know, 8700 firmwares are interchangeable among 8700 regardless of letter, but not interchangeable with 8703 and not interchangeable with 8707.
So you can use 8700r firmware on 8700g's, but not on 8703 or 8707.
(Unless I am proven otherwise -- Not willing to test an 8707 firmware on 8700 and vice-versa. These are both GSM based 8700 series, that may use incompatible firmwares)

The XML files keep you from loading the wrong firmware. Vendor.xml keeps the vendors in check and I think the device.xml does for making sure you don't load the wrong device firmware.

Hi everybody,
Does anyone know the firmware download link for Vodafone FR (SFR).
I have to upgrade a 7290 to OS 4.1 but i'm not sure the UK version work on a french one (different APN probably or something like that).
So I need your opinions
May the force be with BB users ;)

New OS for 8700G will be released soon, I was able to get it from Tmobile engineer. This is to correct the issue with losing coverage / having to frequently turn the antenna off and on. its called 4.1.0.346.
