If you can get the apn settings for your carrier you can browse the net with the 3rd party browser Opera Mini. You'll need a regular cell phone data plan of some kind, though.

Unhappy Blackberry 7290 unable to open port - 10-06-2007, 12:56 AM

Hi All,

I have a blackberry 7290 (unlocked). Few days back all of a sudden it switched off itself and was showing hour glass and eventually Error 365 to eeeeeeeRrrie 65. After looking through the Bb forums most of the ideas and suggested have not helped me.

At present the issue is -- the laptop IBM T42 cannot recognize the USB device RIM Handheld. Sometime it shows up in the device manager and the very next moment it disappears the device list. This scenario continues as long as RIM is connected via USB to the Laptop. Because of this the BB device manager cannot detect the handheld device.

Can some help me go past this issue?

hi
i have some questions
1. Can i flash 7100g (T-mobile) phone with 7100r(Rogers) firmware?
2. Does it have russian language? (i have seen russian in 8800 rogers, does it exist in 7100r)?
3. Just for info: do all rogers firmwares have russian, and what other carriers firmwares have it

Big thanx

Will upgrading OS remove your current unlocked status making it locked to the carrier you upgraded to?

I'm trying to get the latest update from Sprint, but when I go to do an OTA download, I'm unable to select a country in the drop down list. It continually says loading. Even when I press the menu button and click change option, nothing happens. I'm able to download the update to my desktop, but unable to get it to load in the application loader so I can push it to my BB.

Thanks for any help!

Hi I got blackberry 7230 with Bt (uk) firmware. I'm now using t-mobile multi-sim with it. BB can work only like phone or sms. (data connection refused) even I found APN. Today I download and install t-mobile firmware(uk) as I was thinking that it will alow me to surf internet. But after insallation I can see BT logo and recive text's from BT as they wellcome me in their network. It looks like nothing been installed from T-mobile. Internet still disabled (data connection refused) and once again I was trying both T-mobile and BT Apn's...not working . Can someone help me?

You need a Blackberry data plan from your carrier to get rid of the data connection refused message and get BB data.

I have a 7130g which is unlocked to use service form any company. I downloaded a theme and tried to install it, as i connected the BB to my laptop it started updating my BB and at the end showed me an error message ...

Abort Instruction
Reset

I have tried removing the battery, I have tried a couple of things...
I downloaded JL_Cmder and tried to wipe the OS in order to reinstall the OS on my BB - However the java command was not able to open a port, when I use the command Javaloader -usb wipe i get an error message "unable to open port - when i use the command without -usb, it tell me unable to connect to the device - i have tried doing this with the battery out and installed..... it does not work - the Java thingy is loader or installed in C:\programfiles\JL_Cmder folder .. please help

Default 4.2xx software on a verizon 7130e - 02-29-2008, 07:49 AM

Can I install version 4.2x software on a verizon 7130e without complications?

I see several posts regarding deleting the vendor.xml file on my laptop in order to install software from another carrier. What exactly is this file used for? What is accomplished by deleting it, and will I need another copy after the upgrade to 4.2?

I would like to upgrade to 4.2 in order to use the media manager software, but am not sure of the impact of using another carrier's 'approved' software on my verizon 7130e.

Wirelessly posted (BB 11020: BlackBerry8320/4.3.1.27 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Yes, you can install the OS safely. The vendor.xml only prevents other carrier's OS's from being installed. It does nothing else and has no effect on what ultimately gets loaded to the device.

It should be noted that Desktop Manager's Media Manager is nearly useless on the 7130 since it doesn't have a Media Card.

Desktop Manager 4.2 SP2 and higher use Roxio for its Media Manager, and it is not only HUGE, but it is VERY INVASIVE - I strongly recommend either NOT installing it or go to Desktop Manager 4.2 SP1 which has the much smaller and significantly less invasive native Media Manager.
