This is a great thread. I especially like the ALT+I to only display incoming messages. Does anyone know if there is a way to make this the default mode for viewing messages? It sort of bothers me how all the sent mail gets lumped together with incoming mail.

No. You cannot start in that mode, but lucky for you it's awfully easy to type Alt-I, Alt-O, Alt-S/T, whatever.

Here's another shortcut that can be useful.
When in a message that has the "More available" line, you can hit the "m" key to download the rest of the message.

How can you page-down down in the Browser? I hate having to use the scroll wheel.

Good to use if you are having poor/weak signal

Is the radio status screen the status screen under options? I am typing REJ and nothing is happening. I have a BB 7520. Thanks.

Has this question been answered? I did this with my signal strength and like it.
the Alt + nmll switches the signal strength meter from bars to a db level. Is there a similar combo that will display the battery strength in % rather than bars?

Yes, it has been asked many (many) times before. There is no key combination to show the battery in % rather than bars.

You can see the battery % as a number by going to the phone screen and entering #4357* on the BB 7250 at least. The battery % left appears at the very bottom. I know it doesn't show it up in the corner like the signal strength, but it's something.

I'm not sure if this is documented anywhere, but on the 7100 if you hold down * it will enable the keylock and holding down # will enable vibrate mode.

You have to hold the thumb wheel in when you see the "ID" line and you'll see the edit phone number entry there. After you change it, power-cycle the BB and the phone number appears. Worked for me perfectly on my 7290 v4.0.0.198

I just upgraded to the 7290 from a much older model. I've searched the site but cannot find an answer to an annoying problem with email. Whenever I receive an email that I am cc'd on, when I open the email it says "[You were CC'd]", and I have to hit "m" to get the email. Is there a way to set the default so that I don't have to do this and can just see the email right away even if I am cc'd?

Haven't seen this mentioned anywhere -
12-08-2005, 03:37 PM
I got the following information from the BlackBerry Tips and Tricks webcast. When composing an email you can use the following shortcuts...
Shorcut = Result
BR = (
RB = )
LD = CurrentLong date (ex. Thu, Dec 8, 2005)
LT = Long time (ex. 3:22:20 PM)
mynumber = Device phone number (ex. 15553334444)
mypin = Device PIN number
myver = Device model/OS version (ex. 7100/4.0.2.49)
sig = Owner Information (ex. Company XYZ)
usrid = Owner Name (ex. Doug)
I personally like mypin and myver. Very handy when neding to get additional information from the user who only knows how to send an email.
These shortcuts are using the AutoText built into the device OS. This means that you can add your own shortcuts for anything you need yourself.

For getting the battery & signal strenth in %, you can use an application called BBtoday. It basically gives you a display of your most pertanant information including signal/battery strength, appointments, tasks, Weather forcasts, stock quotes, missed call log. I find it extreamly useful and available at: http://blackberrytools.sourceforge.net/OverTheAir/

Maybe I read the thread wrong, but I think I saw a couple of times that Alt+NMLL doesn't work on the 7100's. I was able to get it to work on my 7100i by typing Alt+BNMLL (you need to press 8/BN twice to get 'N')
Hope this helps.

7100 - Bullets and tab -

Is there a way in text mode to enter a bullet character or a tab? I could do in the "old" blackberries, but can't find it on the 7100.

Silly Phone Question -
02-07-2006, 07:35 PM
I like using the lock feature, however on quite a few occations my twitchy scroll finger and clicked on Emergency Call when I'm unlocking. It does confirm before placing a call so I'm able to ESC out of it, but is it possible to remove the ability to dial an emergency call from the lock screen? I use the lock to keep from clicking things, so I don't use a password.
Thanks

On my 7130e I can turn on NUMLOCK by doing CAP+SHIFT but doing SHIFT+CAP as the guides suggest doesn't seem to be turning on CAPSLOCK. Any ideas?
Also, I found that if I do Shift+Cap while on the "Profiles" icon on the home menu, it switches profiles between Quiet and Vibrate. Would like to know how to get more than these two but it's cool nonetheless.

For the C - Compose shortcut, how do you switch it so that when pressing C a blank email document comes up instead of going straight to the address book to search for a contact?

The little mail icon to tell you you have mail used to be in the top left corner of the home screen, but has now decided to sit next to the date and time in the middle - just above reminders.
Is there any way of moving it back?
