When you download the file, are you selecting Run or Save?

You need to select save, download/save it to your desktop or My Documents (note where it's saved to) and then double click the file. If you try to run it from the download it won't work.

If you are saving it, then running it and getting that message, it sounds like a problem with the Windows installer.

Welcome to the forums btw.

Lets start with an easier on. Download and install DM 4.2 SP2. Get that one going first and we will progress from there.

Turn anti virus off before you begin the install. Also set a restore point before beginning.

what are you using to download? this error can occur when the file is still open by the browser.

for example, firefox has a download manager and sometimes it takes a few seconds or minutes after it shows as downloaded to be able to open it up.

are you running a 32 bit or 64 bit of windows? i had issues with installing it on a 64 bix before i got vista

Start -> Run, Type in the word "Temp" hit Ok.. It will bring up a new window with a lot of Temp files... Delete everything in there. Then start the install again.

Also do a Windows Update.. Service Pack 3 has been out for a bit now. Also make sure you get the latest .Net Frameworks to.
