Default HELP!! Email Issues To Uncover - 11-15-2005, 09:49 AM

I am new to the Blackberry, just turned in my Treo 600 which I could not stand.

However, one thing I do not like about the Blackberry 7250 is the fact that I cannot sort out which messages I have that are new, sent, received, etc etc. They are all in one big pile on the messages screen. I look to see how to remedy this problem but there does not seem to be a fix.

I was told by someone at my office in CA that you can do this by going to the messages screen, and then when there, I can select Email Options. However, when I do this, the only options present to me are:

General Options
Email Reconciliation

I therefore cannot add an auto signature as well.

Can anyone explain this to me? Thanks

You'll have to excuse my ignorance, but please define the difference between the 2 listed.

I believe it is the BES. We do not have microsoft exchange server and I checked Option #2 on the software download screen. I am not sitting in front of it so I cannot take a look.

My IT person set it up for me by assigning me an email address @ Blackberry.vzw.net. Then, she converted that to my company email address which I now have working fine.

I have the same issues with the auto signature as well on my 7105t. And I can't change it on the internet set up through the browser as well. I am on BWC if that helps.

Ok, but in the messages screen, how can you separate what emails were SENT vs. Received. I know you can look through them all, but I need to figure out how to separate them without having to look at all of them. I typically get about 30-40 emails/day from customers and internally. I also send about 20-30/day. At the end of the day, this is a HUGE pain in the butt. Any way to do this?

One other question:

When I open any attachment, how do you scroll left to right? The wheel only allows a vertical look for me. Again, kind of basic but I want to master this thing asap. Using the Treo was different as you could tap the screen to scroll. Thanks

Default Selective message viewing - 11-15-2005, 10:38 AM

While you in the messages screen, press the thumb wheel and select View Folder from the menu. You'll get a list of possible folders (Inbox, Sent Items, Missed Calls, etc.). You can select any ONE of these folders to view. If you have multiple folders that receive email, I have no idea how to view them all at once If you want to go back to viewing all again, just press the Escape button (below the thumb wheel).

On my 7100t, I have not found a way to make this folder view "stick" from one session to the next -- it always defaults back to the full view when I go back to viewing messages.

You can also Hide Filed Messages to reduce clutter from your main view. This will remove any messages you sort to a Folder from displaying in the main messages view.

Go to Messages > Options > General Options > change Hide Filed Messages to Yes.

I guess my question is confusing.

When I used the Treo and would receive messages, it would list them all together. These would only appear on one screen to show what was received. When I went to compose a message, a new message, it would be found separately in another folder. This seems to keep everything on one screen. So when I write a message, it leaves it on the same screen as the phone messages, email messages, etc.

I was wondering if there is a way to change that so that when I compose a message, it just goes into a separate folder or if I need to do that manually.

I also noticed that when you receive a call, or miss a call, it also lists that number under messages rather then just listing it under the phone view. Is this "just how it is"

As you can see, I am trying to reduce the amount of "clutter" and make it faster and easier to navigate through. Thanks.

To keep the phone calls from displaying on the main messages view...
Go to Phone > Options > Call Logging > Select None

Note: All calls in/out will still be displayed within Phone.
