I am trying to install an app which keeps failing. Support asked me to look at (From Desktop Manager) help > About > device software. When I do - there is on device software listed? Why is this?
What will happen if I re-install 4.0 to the device?

What app? Who's support did you contact, RIM or the 3rd party?
Looks like you need to install the handheld software on the PC you are running the DTM. Just download it from your carriers website and install it. With BlackBerry you are unable to install 3rd party apps without having the handheld software installed on the PC.
I have the 4.1.0.9 desktop and 4.0 on the device - I am just trying to understand if I re-install the device software if I will have to re-install all my other software and re-install my desktop?
