Default Documents To Go downgrade problem with DM 5.0 - 08-02-2009, 10:25 PM

I am running into the "Desktop Manager wants to downgrade my version of Documents To Go" problem, except I have DM 5.0, and this problem was supposedly fixed in 4.7. The workaround no longer works, because those directories/files to remove don't exist with 5.0. Any suggestions?

Yes the files do exist. They are in the same exact folder.

Should be there, you have delete the "DocumentsToGo.alx" file.

I am looking at the support doc support.dataviz.com/support.srch?docid=14193&pid=2000 (can't post actual link) - is that the right one?

If so, there is no "Shared" folder inside C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\. (I have "Show hidden files and folders" turned on and "Hide protected operating system files" turned off.)

Maybe you already had 4.7 on your PC and then upgraded to 5.0? (Which would probably leave that directory intact.) Or did either of you do a clean install of 5.0?

I have Documents to Go premium also, on my Bold. In my previous OS .301 upgrade I used the work around with DM 4.6 and it worked OK. Before upgrading to .303 I installed DM 4.7 and all went well, as expected without needing the work around. I like many received a notification from RIM yesterday to upgrade to DM 5.01. Given the problems noted, I will stick to DM 4.7.

the SHARED folder mentioned ONLY appears when you install the OS to your PC.
When you install the OS you have on your phone to the pc, the SHARED folder is created, with the java folder which the docstogo.alx file is located.

So if you UPGRADE a program OTA, do you need to REMOVE the older alx file from your desktop to avoid conflicts?
