Default What email format is sent with mail app - 10-01-2009, 10:35 AM

My company set up an alert email to use with Remedy (help desk management software) so that when a support request comes in, replying to it accepts that ticket under the sender's name. They have tested it with those using Outlook and it works fine. Also, they set it up so iPod Touch users can reply and it works.

However, I'm testing with Blackberry and replying doesn't cause the server to accept me as the ticket owner. The email seems to go nowhere. But when the Remedy programmer saw my stuck message, he put it into his Outlook and sent it out - it worked.

My question, what kind of email format is BB mail being sent out (using BIS, OS 4.5) so that a system would not read it the same way as Outlook or iPod Touch? Is there a setting to send mail plain text vs. MIME vs. HTML, etc?

BlackBerry emails ALL are sent as plain text.

You can receive and view HTML, but in sending, it is all text format.

Actually, I had programmers look at the message and says it was sent as: multipart MIME in text/plain and text/html

I believe the ipod touch sends it as plain HTML (no DOCTYPE tag)

That's probably because you are forwarding the message received?

Not forwarding, just hitting reply and sending it off, no changes needed. And the admin let me know the formatting difference, which Remedy can't parse like it can do with Outlook or Ipod.
